We are a family.
We are capable.
We are caring.
We all belong!
Our staff have been working hard to provide resources, build a welcoming environment for children and family who move, and engage in professional learning to better understand military connected students' unique needs.
Because of this commitment, the Virginia Council on the Educational Opportunity for Military Children identified Bren Mar Park Elementary as a recipient of the SY 2024-2025 Purple Star Award. The Purple Star Award is a recognition program for schools who support military connected students and their families and meets the specific criteria which demonstrates our commitment to serving these students and easing transitions for students and families moving to new areas.
In addition, as a recipient of the Purple Star Award, we will also receive the coveted Purple Star Award challenge coin. This coin is a nod to the military community that is known for the practice of bestowing unit coins to those who have contributed to the mission.
On behalf of military connected and newest students we are thrilled to celebrate all BMP staff and community members involved in making our school a welcoming and supportive place, especially for military connected students.
The FCPS School Board, leadership and other distinguished guests will be recognizing Bren Mar Park Elementary as a Purple Star Award recipient on Thursday, November 14, 2024 during the School Board Meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Our next Family Market is on Thursday, November 7, 2024 in the Bren Mar Park. We need volunteers to support with this amazing monthly event!
