Dear Dragons,
I hope everyone had a wonderful break while our teachers used a few workdays to wrap up end-of-quarter grades and parent conferences.
Last week, our Trunk or Treat event was such a joy! It was great to come together as a community and enjoy all the smiles, fun costumes, and the "Thriller" dance by our Dogwood staff. Thank you to everyone who joined in and made it such a memorable evening.
This week, some of our teachers led Student-Led Conferences, where students proudly shared their learning with their families. As part of our commitment to being an IB PYP school, we look forward to continuing these conferences across Dogwood in the years to come.
Please save the date for our first PTA Charter Meeting on November 13th at 6 PM in the library. We would love for as many families as possible to participate. Through the PTA, you’ll have a chance to influence your child’s educational experience and time here at Dogwood.
Thank you for partnering with us. We love this community.

Dogwood IB Highlight
Action is at the heart of being an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) school! Taking action supports the program’s overarching outcome of international-mindedness. Students can take individual or collective action to better understand being internationally-minded and appreciate the benefits of working with others for a shared purpose.
Throughout the month of October, our students took collective action by engaging in Socktober. With your support, we were able to donate 800 pairs of socks to Embry Rucker Community Shelter. We are so proud of how our students were able to take action for our community!
Learning Under the Stars
Families if you have a student in Early Head Start- 2nd grade please join us for Learning Under the Stars on Thursday November 14th from 5-6:30. Come and enjoy a pizza snack with your child’s class as well as learn about some fun math and literacy games you can do at home to help support your child. There will also be booths from various community resources. Be on the look out for a flyer from your child’s teacher. We look forward to enjoying an evening of fun and learning together! If you have any questions regarding the event please contact Ms. Janelle Ali- jnali@fcps.edu.
