Oak View Review

Image of Thank You

Dear Oak View Community,

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your principal for nearly eight years! This will be my last Oak View Review as I will begin at Forestville Elementary this Wednesday. It has been a true pleasure to be part of one of the greatest communities in all of FCPS. Your care, concern, partnership and advocacy ensure that we create the very best learning experiences for each and every one of our students and I know this will continue. I had the chance to parade through the hallways with the students this past Thursday and celebrate with them! They cheered and I may have shed a tear or two, thankful for the memories we have shared together. This was the most fun week to conclude my time at Oak View, beginning with Field Day and culminating with Book Character Dress Up Day. I will leave you with what I share with all prospective Oak View interview candidates when they ask what makes Oak View special - Oak View is a true community school, lucky enough to serve three generations of families and as a parent, we always want better for our children and Oak View is still people's better choice!

Read on for ways we will shower our employees, community and veterans with thanks!

With appreciation,

Sarah Brooker

Image of Impact Aid Form

Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey - ALL Families

Oak View and FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in). Please complete it as soon as possible.

For any families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE, schools will provide paper forms starting Wednesday, November 13. Paper forms should be returned by Wednesday, December 4.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. Information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For more information, please watch this video on Impact Aid and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Need to Register for ParentVUE?

Learn how to activate your SIS ParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey.

Technical support for using ParentVUE or completing the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type Federal Impact Aid Survey under Issue Description. Or, call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).

Oak View PTA Partners with Community Organization - Savers to Raise Funds for School

Oak View PTA sent home collection bags with students this past Thursday. This is in support of a new partnership between OV PTA and a local community organization, Savers, that pays for bulk donations of items. These items are then readied for retail and sold in their local stores. The raised funds will support school-wide events at every grade. Our 6th graders will be helping to organize the items and ready for them for retail and will earn the greatest percent of funds from the donations. These funds will be used to support their end of year activities. We thank you in advance for your donations and collections can be made to the Donation Box at the front of Oak View during school days or on Sundays in November from 10-2 at the basketball court.

Donation Drive runs until November 28th.

Lightspeed Parent Report on Child’s Device Activity

FCPS has tools to help parents know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided at no cost to families by Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service.

Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites their child visited. The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for free access to the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.
