Specialist Spotlight - Math

Math

ST Math at BMP and At Home

During math workshop, students have been using ST Math program and should continue to practice at home.  In ST Math, the game puzzles start off simple and then get more challenging as the student progresses.

  • ST Math is a visual math program for students
  • There are no written words (text), no multiple-choice answers, no timer
  • Students are seeing the math and thinking using pictures
  • Students “try and see” the problems and receive quick feedback to solve math puzzles

When a student reaches a challenging problem, she/he may ask for your help.   As a parent, you might ask questions like:

  • What do you notice about the puzzle?
  • What things can you click on?
  • What question is this puzzle asking?
  • Describe the strategy that you are going to use.
  • Describe what you see after you try your strategy.  What did you learn?
  • What will you do now?

Starting in November, we will share a schoolwide ST Math Challenge for classes to reach their puzzle goals for the year.

Students access ST Math through their Schoology account or Student Links on Bren Mar Park website.
