Principal’s Message

Greetings Tiger Families!

On Wednesday evening our talented orchestra students performed at the Edison Pyramid Orchestra Concert. The show was fun (to include some great costumes and make-up!) and showcased the progress our students have made under Mr. Garfield-Levine’s tutelage already this school year. Last week our band students, led by Mr. Kluttz, traveled down Franconia Road and helped hype up the crowd by joining the Edison band and playing at the Edison football game. The week prior many of our students attended the annual Edison Pyramid Night football game and got free future Eagles shirts and some ran the field during the pregame warm-up. I highlight these events not only for their individual significance, but to showcase the importance of the vertical collaboration that occurs within our pyramid of schools from elementary, middle, and high school. We are fortunate to have a supportive and engaged community, and to be able to make connections with our students and families from Pre-K all the way through graduation.

Go Tigers (and Eagles, and Rockets, and Cheetahs, and Lions, and Panthers, and Penguins)!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Matt

Cell Phone Storage Pilot Program Focus Groups Coming Soon

Students, staff, and families participating in the cell phone storage pilot program will be invited to participate in focus groups (hosted by FCPS’ Office of the Chief Equity Officer and K12 Insight) to share their experiences and insights. Feedback from the focus groups and other community engagement opportunities will help FCPS make adjustments to the pilot program in order to support student success and strengthen the program’s outcomes.

Invites for the pilot middle schools will launch on October 28 for staff and families, and October 29 for students. These focus group invitations are only for schools participating in the pilot program.

Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

Impact Aid

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in). Please complete it as soon as possible.

Schools will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE by Monday, November 11. Paper forms should be returned by Monday, December 4.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. Information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

For more information, please watch this video on Impact Aid and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Register for ParentVUE

Learn how to activate your SISParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey and have access to other helpful information about your child. Technical support for using ParentVUE or submitting the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type Federal Impact Aid Survey in the Issue Description section. You may also call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).
