Dear Poplar Tree Families,
We have loved seeing all our students in their House T-Shirts today! We also can't wait to see everyone wearing them tonight for the Panther Prowl! A huge thank you to the team of volunteers who have helped to make the Panther Prowl a success!
Next week is a little wacky with scheduling. See below for reminders of the schedule:
- 3️⃣ Monday, October 28 - 3 hour early release
- 2️⃣ Thursday, October 31 - 2 hour early release
- 🕯️ Friday, November 1 - Holiday for staff and students: Diwali

💡Uniquely US - Family Spotlight
This week's Family Spotlight is on The Fredes Family! Nelson is a 6th grader in Mr. Byrnes class, Daniella is a 3rd grader in Ms. Licausi's class, and Isabelle is a 1st grader in Ms. Davis' class!

🐾Panther Prowl is TONIGHT!!👟
- Race starts at 5:30 pm!
- After the race there will be a Runners Village with fun games and food!

There will be a variety of food options at the race including Papa Johns Pizza, a Guapos Food Truck, Rita's Italian Ice, Cotton Candy, drinks and candy for sale!
- Currently we have raised $19,355! We are so close to $20,000. If we reach $20,000 our students will get free choice seating in the cafeteria for a day! You can still donate HERE!
🍬 SCA Fundraiser 🍭
Put your estimation to the test to win the jar of candy! During arrival the week of October 28th, take a guess at how much candy is in the jar. Each guess is $0.25. All proceeds go to the SCA!
Outstanding Employee Nominations
Nominations are now open for the 2024-2025 FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards! To submit a nomination for a Poplar Tree Elementary Outstanding Employee in one of the categories below, please complete the nomination through THIS GOOGLE FORM by Nov. 1, 2024.
🧠 Advanced Academics Meeting
Please join our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Kim Keleher on Tuesday, October 29 at 9:00 am in room 100 to learn about the Full Time AAP referral process.
🎖️PTES Celebrates our Veterans🎖️
Family members of our Poplar Tree students who have served or are currently serving in the military are invited to join us for an in-person celebration on Friday, November 8, 2024!

The celebration will go as follows:
- ⭐ 9:00 am - Reception for Veterans in the Library
- ⭐ 9:15 am - Schoolwide Assembly in the gym
- To have your Veterans' photo in a video slideshow we will be showing at the celebration, to sign up for your Veteran to speak at our assembly, or to RSVP to the event, please complete THIS FORM by Friday, November 1!
You will have to have a Google account to share your photo on this form. If you do not have one, you can send the photo via email to Leslie Leisey at lfleisey@fcps.edu.

🎃CHS Haunted House Event🎃
Saturday, 10/26
Mark your calendars for one of our local area’s favorite fall events - the Chantilly High School Haunted House! Along with the Haunted House, there will be games, face painting, and refreshments for sale. Proceeds benefit the Chargers Field Hockey, Girls Soccer & Girls Lacrosse programs. Tickets are $10 in advance ($15 at the door).

👟Running Club K - 6th Grade👟
It’s time to get your running and walking shoes on! We are continuing the before-school Running/Walking Club for all student grades 1-6. If a Kindergartener wants to join, please have a parent come and run or walk too. Best of all, it’s FREE! We will need at least 3 parents present each Thursday to ensure the safety of all of the children. Bring your mug of coffee and socialize as you help cross off a Panther Paw for each lap run! - When: Thursdays from 7:45 to 8:20 AM through December 5th.
