A Message from our Haycock Librarian

The Haycock library welcomes students as a place for reading, independent exploration of interests and curriculum connections.

All classes come to the library weekly to choose and checkout books to take home.

Students in grades K-3 have weekly library lessons that include literacy and socioemotional skills, including reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary development, storytelling structure and empathy and perspective-taking.

Students in grades 4-6 have library lessons as needed, with a focus on library search skills and online research.

Our library book checkout rules:

  • Students have independent choice in books to checkout
  • Books are borrowed for 3 weeks, with 2 renewal extensions allowed
  • Email and/or paper reminders sent home periodically if books are overdue
  • No overdue fines

Haycock’s library resources not only support literacy but also aim to inspire a lifelong love for reading. The skills students gain from reading (solo and together) contribute to their overall academic growth and personal development.

Looking forward to a partnership with families to make the library a place of exploration, learning, and growth for our students.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Sklar, Librarian, with any questions. Her email is jsklar@fcps.edu.

Please Fill out your Impact Aid Forms

Video on Impact Aid

The Impact Aid form is a survey that school districts use to identify and verify federally connected students. The form is required to receive Impact Aid funding from the federal government.

The federal government requires school districts to complete the Impact Aid form each year because enrollment changes. The information on the form is protected by student privacy policies and federal and state laws.

Impact Aid is a program that helps local school districts that have experienced increased expenditures or lost property tax revenue. The program can help with costs for school materials, substitute teachers, transportation, and utilities.

Steps to Access the Survey in ParentVue

Only the enrolling parent can access SIS ParentVue through https://sisparent.fcps.edu/.

The 'Online Packets' tab is located in the top right of the ParentVue screen.

The survey is one of several tiles. Make sure the parent is selecting the Federal Impact Aid Survey located under the 'Packet Descriptions' section.

November is National Family Engagement Month

We have seen and research shows that families play such an important role in their child's education. Here are some key questions to ask your child
to establish  building conversations:

  • What are your hopes and dreams - both in this school year and in the future?
  • What did you enjoy most and least about the previous school year?
  • What can we work on together to help you feel more comfortable this year?
  • What questions did you ask today?
  • Who did you play with at recess?
  • Who is the funniest student in your class?
  • Tell me an interesting fact about your teacher?
  • Did you help anyone today?

Consider each of the roles families play here
