Thank you to all the families who attended Literacy Night and the staff volunteers who made it a fantastic and fun event!
🏫Exciting News
We’ve already begun our move into the new wing of the building! Phase 1 of our 2 year remodel is almost complete! Headstart, Kindergarten, 1st , 2nd and some 4th grade classes will move to the new wing into brand new classrooms so that the old building can be renovated. All students will enjoy the benefits of new art rooms, a new giant gym, bigger music rooms and a fantastic new playground. The newly renovated library will be open in several weeks. We ask for your continued patience and grace as teachers move their classrooms with the least amount of disruption to students. Our goal is to occupy the new wing on November 6th. We’ll also make plans for parents to see our new great space in December. Phase 2 construction means moving the front office as well as using SACC for the main entrance…more to come on those changes. It’s so exciting!

📝Look for the Impact Aid Survey, Coming Soon to ParentVUE
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is eligible for federal Impact Aid grants due to the federal presence in our area. FCPS anticipates receiving approximately $3,000,000 in Impact Aid funds that will become part of FCPS' general operating budget. They are critical to ensuring that students receive an excellent education.
FCPS uses the survey for Federal Impact Aid to identify federally connected students. Starting October 21, the survey will be available online through ParentVue. Families without ParentVUE can request a paper copy of the survey from the office.
🔎Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) Presentation at Madison HS
Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) is a community awareness program designed to enlighten parents through a unique learning experience encompassing insights into trends and indicators of potentially risky behavior.
We guide you through a presentation that opens your eyes to what is right in front of you. This program begins with a “show and tell” of “red flags” that can indicate risky behavior in teens. An educational portion follows that includes a PowerPoint presentation that touches on drug and alcohol use, vaping, mental health and behavioral concerns, risky sexual behaviors, trending "challenges," and more.
We include up-to-date statistics and local trends, and law enforcement officers will share their experiences they have had in our community identifying risky behaviors and helping to put kids on the right path to a healthy life.
Finally, we discuss how to open the door to communicating with your teens about risky behaviors and how to address issues that arise.
Registration is required, and seats are limited for this free event.
You must be 18 or older to attend. No children are allowed at this presentation
Date: November 7
