Welcome to Our Braddock ES Family, #OneFamily
Attention Braddock Families & Community!
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our school community. We are proud to share that approximately 79% of our student population being Multilingual Learners. This incredible statistic reflects the vibrant tapestry of languages and cultures that make up our Braddock family.
To support our Multilingual Learners, we offer two exceptional programs:
- Two-Way Spanish Immersion Program: Students in grades K-5 have the unique opportunity to learn Spanish and English simultaneously in a bilingual program. This immersive approach fosters language proficiency and cultural understanding from a young age.
- Foreign Language in Elementary School (FLES) Program: Students in grades K-5 have the change to learn Spanish literacy. This program provides a solid foundation in the Spanish language and prepares students for future language learning opportunities.
|
Our Multilingual Learners are a source of inspiration and strength for our entire school community. We are committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed both academically and personally.
Let’s celebrate the diversity of our school community and continue to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
Sincerely With Warmest Regards,
Keesha Jackson-Muir, Principal

Vision and hearing screening will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd and Wednesday, October 23rd for all Kindergarten students. The purpose of screening is to identify students who need further evaluation due to difficulty seeing the screening chart or hearing the screening tones. If your child wears glasses, please be sure that glasses are at school on screening day. Parents will be notified by letter if screening results indicate that further evaluation is needed. Prompt follow-up with your health care provider is recommended as vision and hearing difficulties can interfere with learning.

Please be aware that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) have recently updated their guidelines regarding head lice. These guidelines align with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and emphasize a more inclusive approach to managing head lice in schools.
Key points to remember:
- Students with live head lice or nits may remain in school.
- Parents will be contacted if lice or nits are found.
- Information and resources will be provided to help with treatment and prevention.
Additional information and resources can be found on the Head Lice Information page and the Lice: Treatment and Prevention page.
FCPS is participating in Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5). VQB5 is Virginia’s system for measuring and supporting quality in early childhood programs so children enter kindergarten ready to learn. VQB5 builds on health and safety standards by measuring the quality of teacher-child interactions and the use of the curriculum.
