🎃Spirit Day- Thursday Oct 31, 2024

Thursday, October 31 will be Dress as a Book Character Day.  We encourage all students to dress as a Book Character or wear a costume of their choice.  Students should not wear masks that cover their entire face or bring weapon-like accessories.  Preschool, kindergarten and first grade will have a morning parade around the school dressed as their favorite book character.  Some ideas for making costumes with items found at home are below:

Spy: wear dark clothes and sunglasses.

Athlete: wear a jersey and bring a piece of sports equipment.

Pajamas: to be characters from the book Pajama Time, Fancy Nancy, Pirates in Pajamas, Llama Llama, The Problem with Pajamas, Vegetables in Pajamas

Cat: draw whiskers and a nose on your face using makeup.

Banana: wear all yellow.

Bush/tree: fill a trash bag with leaves and place it on or around you.

📄Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms in November. Please be sure to return them by Friday, November 17

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information.

🍰Volunteers Needed: Election Day Bake Sale

Who's ready to break out their oven mitts and help raise some dough for Timber Lane? We are looking for our community (Parents, Grandparents, Neighbors, Friends, Church Groups!) to put their baking passions to great use!  You can bake (or buy!) anything you'd like, loaves, cookies, bars, muffins, cakes, pies. We ask that you package small items like cookies into individual serving sizes in bags or boxes (think 1-3 cookies, 1-2 bars, 1 muffin), and please label if your item has any nuts! Rather buy a dozen cookies and package them up? That's ok, we don't judge!

We are also looking for volunteers to help sell on the day of the election, Tuesday November 5 from 6am-7pm. You can sign up for one hour or multiple hour slots. Kids are welcome and encouraged to come along to help learn about money management and to practice their persuasive speaking skills. It is always a fun and rewarding event. This year we are hoping to top last year's $1600 sale with the large voter turnout expected. Reach out with any questions to Kristin Crysler at vicepresident@timberlanepta.com
