October 25 - News and Notes!
Rolling Valley Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our virtual PTA meeting on Monday! It’s been a busy week here at RVES, with our second early release Monday and a fun field trip for kindergarten today! Around the building, classes are working hard to finish strong as we wrap up the 1st Quarter.
We’re also excited for an upcoming PTA-sponsored school assembly on Tuesday, Oct. 29, featuring the presentation "Is it Magic or is it Science?" This interactive experience is sure to inspire curiosity and wonder in our students!
We hope you can join us on Wednesday, Oct. 30, for our first Instructional Insight Coffee! We’ll meet in the library at 9:20 to discuss our reading curriculum and how it’s implemented in classrooms at Rolling Valley.
A few reminders: the Quarter ends on Thursday, Oct. 31, with a 2-hour early release, and dismissal will begin at 2:00 p.m. There is no school on Nov. 1, Nov. 4, and Nov. 5. Please check the Important Dates section below for a full list of upcoming events.
Tomorrow, Oct. 26, is our annual Fun Fair and Haunted House! We look forward to seeing you there. Have a wonderful weekend!

Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in). Please complete it as soon as possible.
For any families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE, we will provide paper forms starting Wednesday, November 13. Paper forms should be returned by Wednesday, December 4.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. Information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For more information, please watch this video on Impact Aid and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

What's happening at RVES!
4-6th Graders
Some 4th through 6th-grade students have been learning about the importance of composting and how it contributes to sustainability. Recently, they had the opportunity to practice composting with our new compost bin, working together to turn organic waste into valuable compost. Through collaboration and communication, the students are taking active roles in caring for our environment and sharing ideas on how to continue beautifying our outdoor learning space. We’re excited to see their teamwork and dedication as they make our school a greener and more beautiful place!
