Students and families gathered at our 2nd Annual Pizza and Puzzles Night
A Message from Ms. Kirkland
We just closed out a busy week with many events! On Wednesday, our PTO hosted our 2nd Annual Pizza & Puzzles Night in our cafeteria. Students and caregivers gathered for some yummy pizza and puzzle fun, with all proceeds benefiting our Mount Eagle PTO. These funds go towards funding field trips for every grade level.
On Sunday, our parking lot will transform into our Trunk-or-Treat from 3:00-4:30pm! All Mount Eagle students are welcome with their parents. Come check out the awesome trunks, show off your costume, and do some trick-or-treating. Raffle tickets will be available for sale to benefit the PTO.
Finally, Monday is our next Early Release Monday. Our staff will engage in learning together, and teachers will have time to complete literacy training mandated by the state of Virginia.

Outstanding FCPS Employee Nominations
This fall, our staff has gone above and beyond expectations. One way to recognize their efforts and excellence is through the FCPS Outstanding Employee Awards program. Nominations are now open. To submit a nomination for a Mount Eagle Elementary Outstanding Employee, please complete the nomination through this Google form link. You may nominate one employee at our school or multiple employees (one individual may only nominate one employee per category.)
All that is required for a preliminary nomination is a paragraph or two about how this employee demonstrates exceptional work in the criteria for that category. The Google form link has more information regarding the criteria for each of these awards.
The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, October 28, 2024
If you have any questions such as which category a certain staff member might fit into, please contact Carmela Pine, ckpine@fcps.edu

🍎 Make Every Day Count! The Importance of Attendance
As you plan upcoming trips and other family events, please remember the importance of sending your child to school every day. Review the FCPS School Year Calendar and try to plan any time away during breaks from school.
Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. Research shows that children who were chronically absent (missing 18 days or more) in kindergarten and first grade were far less likely to read proficiently at the end of third grade.
Learn how families can help form good attendance habits.
