After-School Clubs
Students in grades 1-6 received Interest Forms in Tuesday folders this week. To indicate interest, please check the appropriate box(es), print your child’s first and last name, and sign your name. Forms must be returned by Monday, October 21 if you would like for your child to be considered for participation. Students selected to participate will receive a permission slip which must be returned by Thursday, November 6.
***We are excited to announce that Clearview will be offering Club de Diversidad Cultural (Cultural Diversity Club) after-school on Tuesdays for students in grades 2-3. The club will be facilitated in Spanish and will explore different Latin American cultures through literature, art, food, games, music, and dance. Please send a Talking Points message to Assistant Principal Rachel Charlton if you would like for your child to be considered for this club. Or, if you have not yet turned in your Interest Form and you are interested in your child participating in Club de Diversidad Cultural, we invite you to write a note on the Interest Form.

Calling All Yellow Jackets to Join the Herndon Homecoming Parade!
We hope to see you at the Herndon Homecoming parade on November 9 at 9:30 AM in the town of Herndon. Students from all grades are invited to dress in yellow and black and march in the parade with sixth graders this year. Parade parking will be available in the municipal surface lot at Station Street and the Herndon Municipal Center lot in the Town of Herndon.

National Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. To help develop a common understanding of Bullying, below is the FCPS definition.
Bullying in Students Rights and Responsibilities is defined as: “Any aggressive and unwanted behavior that is intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate the victim; involves a real or perceived power imbalance between the aggressor or aggressors and victim; and is repeated over time or causes severe emotional trauma. “Bullying” includes cyberbullying. “Bullying” does not include ordinary teasing, horseplay, argument, or peer conflict.”

All Saints Day and Día de los Muertos

This week we recognize those in our community observing All Saints Day and Día de los Muertos. For Catholics, All Saints Day (November 1) celebrates all those who are with God in Heaven, known and unknown. All Souls Day (November 2), known in Mexico and Latin America as Día de los Muertos, is a day of remembrance and prayer for all those who have died, especially for the souls who may be in purgatory. These special days are celebrated by Catholics, Anglicans, and some Protestants throughout the world. |

🔍 Lightspeed Parent Report on Child’s Device Activity
FCPS has tools to help parents know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided at no cost to families by Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service.
Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites their child visited. The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for free access to the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.

Establishing a ParentVue account is essential for staying connected to your child’s education.
