I hope this message finds you well! As we move into another exciting week, I wanted to highlight a special event we have coming up that is all about boosting school attendance and keeping up the momentum we've built together.
Attendance Spirit Week: October 21-25
Next week is Attendance Spirit Week! We have a fun-filled week planned to encourage students to be present, on time, and engaged in school. Here's the lineup:
- Monday, October 21: Pajama Day – "Roll Out of Bed and Get to School!"
- Tuesday, October 22: Crazy Hair Day – "Be Outrageous, Show Your Crazy Hair Look!"
- Wednesday, October 23: Work It Wednesday! – "Wear Activewear or Represent Your Favorite Sports Team!"
- Thursday, October 24: Come with Kindness – "Wear a Shirt with Words of Kindness or Something that Makes You Smile!"
- Friday, October 25: Unity Day – "Wear Green or Lynbrook Spirit Gear to Show We Are All Lynbrook!"
We know that consistent attendance is a key factor in student success, and this spirit week is a great way to remind students of the importance of being here every day. Let’s work together to make sure all our students are present and participating in these fun days!
Fall Festival Reminder: Thursday, October 24!
Don’t forget, our Fall Festival is happening on Thursday, October 24 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM! It’s going to be an evening of fun for the whole family with games, activities, and delicious food. We can’t wait to see everyone there, so mark your calendars and come ready to enjoy a fantastic time with our Lynbrook community!
Weekend Activity Suggestion: Family Nature Walk
I know how hard it can be to find time for activities with family (trust me, I get it). With everything going on, sometimes it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. But I’ve learned that sometimes, I just need to drop everything, put the to-do list aside, and head out with my family, even if it’s just for a quick walk. This weekend, I encourage you to do the same. A simple family nature walk can be a perfect way to slow down, connect with your child, and enjoy the beauty of fall. Whether it’s a stroll through your neighborhood or a trip to the park, these moments can mean the world to our kids. (Bonus – ask your child what phonics skill they learned this week)
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Let’s make Attendance Spirit Week a big success together!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. To help develop a common understanding of Bullying, below is the FCPS definition.
Bullying in Students Rights and Responsibilities is defined as: “Any aggressive and unwanted behavior that is intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate the victim; involves a real or perceived power imbalance between the aggressor or aggressors and victim; and is repeated over time or causes severe emotional trauma. “Bullying” includes cyberbullying. “Bullying” does not include ordinary teasing, horseplay, argument, or peer conflict.”
For more information on how FCPS handles a bullying situation please visit the FCPS Bullying Prevention and Intervention webpage. Our goal is to ensure all students feel safe and welcome at school. If you have questions and/or concerns about something that is going on at school, please contact the front office so that they can support you and most importantly your student.
