October 28th Early Release Monday @ 12:25PM
Your child will follow the same dismissal procedure (staying or leaving early) as you indicated for the first early release date, with the exception of those students attending SACC which will be open at dismissal time.
In order to ensure student safety, please do not make any last minute changes to your child's dismissal plan.
* If your child will stay at school, please send a snack with your student since their lunchtime is earlier than usual *
Students receive lunch daily, including early release days.

10:20-10:50 - 3rd grade and enhanced aut
10:50-11:20 - 1st and 5th Grade
11:20-11:50 - 2nd and 6th Grade
11:50-12:20 - Kindergarten and 4th Grade

Purple Star Designation Award
Deer Park is honored to receive the 2024-2025 Purple Star Award bestowed by the Virginia Council for Educational Opportunity for Military Children.
The Virginia Purple Star Designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.
Deer Park strives to make a welcoming and supportive place for all our military connected students and all families.

Thursday, October 31, is the last day of the first quarter, and a two-hour early release for students.
Friday, November 1, is a holiday this year for Diwali and Dia de los Muertos and All Saints Day. All schools and offices will be closed.
Costume Parade
On October 31st students are encouraged to dress like a
favorite book character.
The Parade will begin at 9:15 a.m. Parents are welcome to come
and watch the parade.
Don't have a favorite book character? Wear your Halloween costume (no masks permitted) OR your Deer Park Spirit wear and colors!
*Please remember all costumes should follow school
dress code policies.

Please join Deer Park staff and students in honoring our Veterans on November 12th at 9:30 AM, with the Chantilly Academy Air Force Jr. ROTC, music and speakers.

Help Deer Park Honor Our Military Family Members!
On Thursday, October 24, a star paper will go home in the Thursday Folders for students to write names and attach pictures of any family members who are current or past members of the military for our school wide display.
*The stars are due back by Friday, October 31*

SCA Fundraiser for Hurricanes Milton and Helene
The Deer Park Student Council Association (SCA) is holding a penny drive to help the people affected by the destruction of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Our penny drive will last from Monday, 10/21/2024, and end on Thursday, 11/07/2024. Penny drives aim to collect funds donated in small amounts (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and small dollar bills), and donate them to a worthy cause; we are aiming to make a big difference with small coin amounts, but will always take any donation the school community members would like to make!
All donations will be given to the American Red Cross’ Hurricanes Milton and Helene Fund. If you wish to donate on your own, you can use this link to do so. If you choose to do so, please let us know by emailing Ms. Arzt and Mr. Wallace, and we’ll add it to the school’s total!

Here are the celebrations for the 1st quarter! You can help by reminding your child to follow the Behavior Expectations and to turn in Bucky Bucks to their teacher!

 Storybook Pumpkin Patch!
We are growing a storybook pumpkin patch, and we need your help! Decorate a pumpkin to look like one of your favorite book characters and bring it to school to plant in our Storybook Pumpkin Patch!
Entry forms can be picked up in the Library!
No Carved or Cut Pumpkins!
Think of your favorite book and design your pumpkin based on your favorite character from that book!
Purchase a pumpkin NO larger in size than a basketball or use a styrofoam or craft pumpkin.
Gather your decorating supplies. Acrylic paints or permanent markers work best. Add materials like yarn, buttons, wiggly eyes, etc.
Decorate your pumpkin without carving, cutting or poking holes in it.
Bring your pumpkin and completed entry form to school before October 28.
Take your pumpkin home on November 8.

If your child needs help getting the pumpkin home, please make plans to do this. All pumpkins that are left behind will be thrown away by 4:00pm that afternoon.
Participation is completely voluntary. This is not a contest.
Each decorated pumpkin will earn the owner one prize
(limit one pumpkin per student)
You will get your prize when you pick up your pumpkin.
Have fun and be creative!

Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking that all families complete a survey for Federal Impact Aid. This federal grant program is designed to directly compensate local school districts that have been financially impacted by federal activities. The form can be competed by the enrolling parent online in SIS ParentVue.
Please take a moment to access and complete the form. If you have not activated your ParentVue account, please contact our Registrar, for assistance.
A completed survey is required for each school-age child
in the household.

Reflections
Call for Entries!
THEME: Accepting Imperfections
Explore the arts and express yourself! Students in K-12 can enter their pieces by Nov. 15. Please KEEP your original pieces and drop them off at the main office once you have submitted electronically. PTA will have them displayed.
Reception and awards for Reflections will be hosted by the PTA in Dec. 6th in the Deer Park Library. All are welcome!
