Cedar Connection

A Word from Dr. Farrish

Dear Cedar Lane Families,

As we wrap up another fantastic week at Cedar Lane School, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful activities and achievements we’ve seen in our classrooms. Our students continue to impress us with their hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in fostering a positive environment for our children.

As the weather begins to turn cooler, please remember to dress your children in layers to ensure they stay comfortable during outdoor activities. The changing seasons bring a special beauty to our community, and we encourage everyone to enjoy the crisp autumn air.

I’m also excited to announce that we have a vaccination clinic scheduled here at Cedar Lane on October 23rd (this coming Wednesday - see below). This is a great opportunity for families to ensure that their students are up to date on vaccines.

Additionally, mark your calendars for our upcoming Hallowingo event on October 29th (see below)! This is always a fun-filled highlight of our school year. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Thank you for being an integral part of our Cedar Lane community.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Dr. Farrish

ICYMI: Digital Citizenship Week

Digital Citizenship

This past week was Digital Citizenship Week. This week, students and teachers participated in meaningful discussions about the role of technology in their lives. During this week and throughout the year, schools and families can access the Media Balance and Wellbeing Toolkit to support the healthy use of technology. FCPS will continue leading efforts to promote a positive culture of media and technology use, supporting both students and their families.

ICYMI: Empowering Families with Technology - Resources and Tips for Positive Use

Dear Cedar Lane Community,

Technology plays a vital role in our lives, offering countless opportunities for learning, connection, and creativity. At Cedar Lane, we are committed to fostering a positive and responsible digital environment for our students.

This email highlights some valuable resources available to our school community provided by Fairfax County to help families navigate the ever-evolving world of technology.

Empowering Digital Learners:

Guiding Young Digital Citizens:

  • Navigating Media Together:
    • Facing difficulty with your child's media choices? Commonsense Media provides trusted reviews and resources to navigate TV, movies, and apps: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/

We encourage you to explore these resources and empower yourselves and your children to use technology responsibly and productively.

At Cedar Lane, we also will be exploring safe and responsible technology use during Digital Citizenship Week (Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18). Teachers will use this time to teach about digital citizenship and support students in developing the skills they need to use devices safely, ethically, and effectively.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to contact the Tech Team at Cedar Lane.

Sincerely,

The Cedar Lane Tech Team
