Dear Poplar Tree Families,
It was another great week at Poplar Tree! We celebrated Digital Citizenship week with a fun Spirit each day! It was fun to see all the different hobbies on Tuesday, the yellow on Wednesday, the silly hair and hats on Thursday, and the fun socks today!
Every FCPS School is creating a highlights section on their website of some of the great things that make each school special. We know that many of you share in our joy of being part of the amazing Poplar Tree community. If you have a few minutes, please fill out THIS FORM to give us your perspective on what makes Poplar Tree special! We are asking for responses by next Friday, October 25!

A new feature to our weekly Paw Print will now include a Family Spotlight! We want to highlight what makes each of our families unique and appreciate the diversity and values of our entire school community.

👟Panther Prowl!🐾
We are so excited for our Panther Prowl Fun Run!
- When: Friday, October 25
- Time: Race starts at 5:30 pm
- What: A one mile Fun Run starting and ending at the school...followed by a Runner's Village of Games, Food, and more!
The Panther Prowl is also a fundraiser! Last year we raised ALMOST $30,000. All of that money goes back to our school!

On Thursday, October 31, all students can wear a school appropriate costume to school!! (no masks or weapons)
As a school...the more money we raise the more fun we can have!

$20,000 - Free Choice Seating in the Cafe! Sit wherever you want at lunch for a day!

$25,000 - Silly String Ms. Leisey & Ms. Riddile! The 4 students who raise the most money get to do the silly stringing!
- $30,000 - Ms. Andujar & Ms. Alley will wear inflatable costumes to school!

🧠 Advanced Academics Meeting
Please join our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Kim Keleher on Tuesday, October 29 at 9:00 am in room 100 to learn about the Full Time AAP referral process.
🎖️PTES Celebrates our Veterans🎖️
Family members of our Poplar Tree students who have served or are currently serving in the military are invited to join us for an in-person celebration on Friday, November 8, 2024!

The celebration will go as follows:
- ⭐ 9:00 am - Reception for Veterans in the Library
- ⭐ 9:15 am - Schoolwide Assembly in the gym
- To have your Veterans' photo in a video slideshow we will be showing at the celebration, to sign up for your Veteran to speak at our assembly, or to RSVP to the event, please complete THIS FORM by Friday, November 1!

🎨Calling All Artists!🖍️
The Poplar Tree yearbook is looking for amazing student-created art to feature on its cover. In addition to the front cover, there will be other spaces for artwork placement too. Entries must be school-centered and have Poplar Tree Elementary 2024-2025 featured prominently as well as this year’s slogan “Uniquely Us.” See flyer for more details. Artwork must be submitted to Mrs. Riddile in the library by Friday, October 25.
🎃CHS Haunted House Event🎃
Saturday, 10/26
Mark your calendars for one of our local area’s favorite fall events - the Chantilly High School Haunted House! Along with the Haunted House, there will be games, face painting, and refreshments for sale. Proceeds benefit the Chargers Field Hockey, Girls Soccer & Girls Lacrosse programs. Tickets are $10 in advance ($15 at the door).

Who we are: Math Club at Poplar Tree is a parents-run, after-school club

Who can join: Grades 3-6

Requirement for joining the club: PTA membership

What we do: Club members will participate in at-home practice tests and worksheets (provided by the Math Club) and will come to the school for contests such as Math Olympiad, Noetic, and Math Kangaroo.
- We will NOT offer synchronous in-school coaching to the students this year.

Duration: November 2024 to May 2025 (The first contest will be in November)

👟Running Club K - 6th Grade👟
It’s time to get your running and walking shoes on! We are continuing the before-school Running/Walking Club for all student grades 1-6. If a Kindergartener wants to join, please have a parent come and run or walk too. Best of all, it’s FREE! We will need at least 3 parents present each Thursday to ensure the safety of all of the children. Bring your mug of coffee and socialize as you help cross off a Panther Paw for each lap run! - When: Thursdays from 7:45 to 8:20 AM through December 5th.
- Where: Poplar Tree Elementary School Field (Outside basketball court)
