What is the House System?
We held out House System Assembly this morning! We had an amazing time this morning being sorted into Houses! The House System is a structured approach to school life that fosters a sense of community, belonging, and healthy competition. Adapted from The Ron Clark Academy, our school has adopted this system to create a supportive and engaging environment for all students.
How does it work?
Today, all students and staff members were divided into four distinct Houses: House of Frost, House of Glacier, House of Northern Lights, and House of Stars. Each House is comprised of students in all grade levels.
Benefits of the House System
-
Community and Belonging: Students develop strong bonds with their Housemates, creating a sense of community and belonging within the school.
-
Leadership Opportunities: Students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and take on responsibilities.
-
Healthy Competition: Houses compete in acquiring “House Point Tickets” which fosters a healthy sense of competition and encouraging students to strive for excellence that tie in with Blizzard’s Arctic Code!
-
Character Development: The House System promotes positive character traits such as teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, and responsibility.
House Activities and Events
Throughout the year, students will participate in a variety of House activities and events, including:
- House meetings
- House spirit days and theme weeks
How can parents get involved?
We encourage you to ask your child(ren) about their House! By being part of the House System, your child will have the opportunity to develop valuable life skills, make lifelong friendships, and become a well-rounded individual.
Please be on the lookout for the House bracelet they received today. We will be wearing these bracelets for House events. Please remind your child(ren) to keep these bracelets in a safe place!
We believe that the House System will provide a positive and enriching experience for all students at Lees Corner Elementary!

Chantilly’s Best Buddies and Abilities Program (Cat B) are hosting a sensory friendly Trunk or Treat for the Chantilly Pyramid on Oct. 27th at 3:30pm. It will be in the back parking lot of Chantilly HS to ensure safety and there will be student and teacher volunteers directing where to go.

Multiple studies show that school lunches are important in supporting overall student health by improving students’ diets and combating food insecurity. Students who eat school lunches consume more fruit, vegetables, and fiber than their peers.
This School Lunch Week, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services reminds families that they are dedicated to providing flavorful, healthy, sustainable, and student-focused meals. Also, new menu items have been launched this year based on student feedback.
Want to know what’s for breakfast or lunch? Nutrition Services now has printable menus.
As a reminder, FCPS elementary schools will have limited early release Mondays during the upcoming school year. Our second early release is October 28th. The goal is to provide elementary teachers with additional time to meet new professional development requirements for the Virginia Literacy Act.
If you have not done so yet, please complete this form as soon as possible as the deadline was October 14, 2024. We need an updated form for every student because there were several changes to original parent choices, and we want to make sure we have October as up to date as possible for the safety of everyone. We request that no changes are made after Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
