Good afternoon, Edison Eagles!
What an exciting and eventful week we've had here at Edison! I want to start by congratulating Owen Love on winning the Golf State Championship for the second time—an incredible achievement that hasn't happened in the last 60 years! We are so proud of your hard work and dedication.
A big shoutout also goes to our cheer team for advancing to the regional championship. Keep up the amazing work, and we can’t wait to cheer you on at the next level!
Our Homecoming Week has been full of energy, spirit, and school pride. It all started with fantastic hallway decorations by all our classes, showcasing their creativity and talent. From Clue, Candyland, Monopoly, to The Game of Life, our hallways truly came alive, reflecting the enthusiasm and school spirit of our students.
On Wednesday, we hosted the spirited Eagle Bowl, where the senior and junior classes battled it out on the field. Congratulations to the seniors for taking the win! It was a fun and friendly competition, and the energy was fantastic.
Thursday evening, we had our Follies, where students performed skits related to their class themes, adding a bit of humor and poking fun at staff. It was a joy to see our students' creativity and sense of humor on display.
Tonight, we’ll wrap up our Homecoming festivities with the Homecoming football game against Annandale, where we will also announce our Homecoming Royalty. We hope to see everyone there cheering on our team! The fun continues on Saturday night with the Homecoming Dance in the main gym from 8-11 pm. A reminder that tickets will not be sold at the door, so make sure to get yours beforehand! A big thank you to our leadership teachers Mr. Dight, Ms. Craft and Mrs. King and the leadership students for all their hard work making this a great homecoming week!
We also celebrated two Senior Nights this week—our Cross-Country team on Wednesday at Burke Lake and our Field Hockey team on Thursday before their game against Lewis, where they secured a senior night win! It was great to honor our seniors and celebrate their contributions to their teams.
We are wishing everyone a beautiful fall weekend ahead. Enjoy the weather and take time to relax after such a busy and fun-filled week!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Amanda Burke Principal
Ash Dugan, senior at EHS, is an avid EUC (Electric Unicycle) rider. Ash spends her off time competing and helping to advocate the advancement of her sport. This year Ash and fellow riders from all over the country traveled to various events to complete and showcase their skills. From balance tests, sprints on the oval and dirt tracks to head to head races. These events build community by strengthening relationships and helping to bring dreams to reality amongst EUC riders. Ash has placed in the Women’s Division First at Wheel Scorcher in July of 2024, First Place at Wheel Life Rally August 2024, and recently Second Place at Amped Electric In Games in Bentonville, AK this October! Congratulations to Sophomore Owen Love for winning the 6A Individual State Golf Championship on Tuesday at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg. After finishing 18 holes in difficult conditions at two under par, he was forced to wait three hours to see if he was the winner. A great golfer from Robinson tied Owen and the two of them went to a playoff. After tying on the first playoff hole, Owen hit a magnificent 15-foot putt on the second playoff hole to win the state championship for the second straight year.
This hasn't been done in 60 years!! And he's only a sophomore!
