Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our PTA meeting and Literacy Night last
Wednesday. Mrs. Borders did a phenomenal job working with our reading committee to
orchestrate such a fun and educational night!!
We have our second- 3 hour early release next Monday 10/28. We have 234 responses to our survey
indicating each students' plan for the afternoon. Please do respond ASAP as we need 100% responses.

Your Stuff Misses YOU TOO!
Monday and Tuesday October 28 and 29 the Lost and Found is OPEN and will be in the main lobby from 9 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.
Parents are welcome to swing by the school on these two days to claim any missing item(s) from their household.
All unclaimed belongings will be donated to the McLean Baptist Church, Share Clothing Room after October 30.

Ms. Stoermann, our Advanced Academic Resource teacher, will host virtual office hours sessions to help you with your questions regarding AAP Full Time screening (available to students in Grades 2-6) or any other AAP questions you have.

The county deadline for submitting the AAP Full-Time family referral is Sunday, December 15th. This is a county set deadline, and late entries will not be accepted. Parents are encouraged to turn in their forms and supporting documents early to ensure that they are formatted appropriately for the screening portfolio. The AAP Full Time Parent Referral form can be found at the bottom of the AAP In FCPS website.

Movies Under the Stars (IF)
Friday, October 25
Music starts at 5:30 p.m.
Movie will start at dusk (6:30-6:45 p.m.)
We really need volunteers to make this event a success! Slots are only 90 minutes long. Please sign up for a slot (or two) to volunteer here. Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents. Teens are also welcome to volunteer and can earn service hours. If you cannot volunteer yourself, please ask a friend or neighbor if their teen is available to help. Any questions, please email Ben Moore or Katie Sear.
Dinner at the Movie: Order your pizza for movie night. Pizza will only be available to those families who have pre-ordered by Thursday, October 24 at 12:00 p.m. We will NOT have extra pizzas for sale on site. If you miss this deadline, please plan to bring your own food.
Monster Mash Dash
Registration is now open! Sign up your family to join us for a 5K or 1-Mile Fun Run, and get some exercise before everyone indulges in Halloween candy! Costumes are encouraged. Now in its eleventh year, this is Franklin Sherman's primary fundraising event of the year and one of its most widely-attended!
Early registration ends Friday, September 27!

Reporting All Day Absences
FCPS has created clearer guidance for reporting attendance. Please use using one of the methods below:

ParentVUE: Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, parents or legal guardians can submit up to two consecutive full-day absences using SIS ParentVUE. Learn more about attendance reporting through ParentVUE on the FCPS website: fcps.edu/attendance.

Call the school's attendance line at 703-506-7979.

Email the front office at franklinshermanelem.attendance@fcps.edu. When emailing an absence or tardy, please include your child's first and last name and their teacher's name.
All Day Absences Only: The Attendance feature in ParentVUE is the FCPS secure web solution for reporting all day absences.
Partial Absence: To report late arrivals, early dismissals, or to update already submitted attendance, please contact the school. Our school's office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm.
