Dear Dragons,
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who have stepped up to help launch our PTA. Your participation and partnership mean the world to us. It’s through this collaboration between home and school that we can reach our children in the most meaningful ways. Your time is valuable, and I truly appreciate your commitment to helping us take the important steps to establish the Dogwood PTA.
We are having a fantastic time celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month! This week is Spirit Week, and it has been wonderful to honor the rich history, vibrant culture, and incredible people that make up our diverse and beautiful Latin/x communities.
This Friday, October 11th, we invite you to join our school community at Chuck E. Cheese in Herndon anytime after school. This is a fundraising event to help lower the cost for our 1st graders' upcoming field trip. Simply mention Dogwood Elementary School when you purchase your dinner or tokens, and a portion of the proceeds will go directly toward supporting our students. We hope to see you there!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to host our Trunk or Treat event on October 30th! This is always a fun event with hundreds of attendees, and we need your help to make it even better. Please consider donating candy to the school, which will be distributed during the event. Your contributions will go a long way in ensuring a fun and successful celebration for our students.
Thank you again for your continued support and engagement.
Kate Beckner

September 15 through October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. Students deserve meaningful, sustained opportunities to learn about the experiences and contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans year-round, and the celebration of National Hispanic American Heritage Month is an opportunity to honor these diverse and important stories.

This document will support teachers and students in learning Hispanic & Latin American perspectives, contributions, and cultures.
