The fall season at Fort Belvoir is filled with an array of vibrant events that bring our community together. One of the most anticipated occasions is Oktoberfest, a beloved tradition that our students, families, and staff eagerly look forward to each year. This year’s event was nothing short of spectacular, with a fantastic turnout from our school community. COL Stewart, our Garrison Commander, kicked off the festivities with an inspiring speech, setting the tone for an evening that was brimming with fun, laughter, and camaraderie. The joy in the air was palpable as everyone joined in to celebrate.

I was particularly honored to share the evening with the extraordinary women of the Prince William, Virginia Chapter of Gold Star Wives of America. These ladies are a true inspiration, as they carry forward the legacy of their late spouses with grace and resilience. Their commitment to remembering and honoring their loved ones is a testament to the strength and unity of our military community. Sitting with them was a humbling reminder of the sacrifices made by so many, and it reinforced the importance of coming together to celebrate, support, and uplift one another.

Tomorrow - October 9th, we are excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as one united school community. Many of our students and families proudly represent the vibrant and diverse Hispanic culture, and we invite all families to join in the celebration. To ensure we have enough food for everyone, we kindly ask that families bring a delicious Hispanic dish to share.

This event is also a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with one another, particularly here on the military base (Fort Belvoir), where many students attend Fort Belvoir Primary. We look forward to celebrating together and hope to see you there!

Book Character Day: October 25th

On Friday, October 25th, Fort Belvoir Primary will have our 2nd Annual Book Character Day! Students are invited to find a great book and dress up like their favorite character. Book Character Day is a fun, voluntary activity for both students and staff that promotes a love of reading, specifically favorite book characters. We are looking forward to seeing which characters inspire our students!

Dressing up is optional.  If students choose to do so, please adhere to the following so that our students have a safe and productive day.

  • Costumes should not be scary nor have words, graphics, or toy weapons that are inappropriate for school
  • No costume face masks
  • No painted faces

Whether your child is wearing a costume or not, please remind them to bring their favorite book.
