Please join us this Wednesday for a PTA meeting at 5:30 where our school board member, Robyn Lady, will be joining us. The PTA meeting will be followed by our first family literacy night!
At our Literacy Night, there will be games for all ages and information for parents to learn about Science of Reading and our new language arts curriculum.
Just a reminder that at the end of this month on 10/28 we will have another 3 hour early release. We will only contact parents who had their child stay with us for the last early release. SACC will now be open.
On 10/31, we have a two hour early release for the end of the quarter and no school on November 1.

Please join us at Franklin Sherman for Family Literacy Night. Activities will take place in the cafeteria, gym and library.
During the event families will learn more about evidence-based literacy practices, spend time reading and playing games with your children, and you may even win prizes!

Your Stuff Misses YOU TOO!
Monday and Tuesday October 28 and 29 the Lost and Found will be OPEN and will be in the school main lobby from 9 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.
Parents are welcome to swing by the school on these two days to claim any missing item(s) from their household.
All unclaimed belongings will be donated to the McLean Baptist Church, Share Clothing Room after October 30.

Ms. Stoermann, our Advanced Academic Resource teacher, will host virtual office hours sessions to help you with your questions regarding AAP Full Time screening (available to students in Grades 2-6) or any other AAP questions you have.

The county deadline for submitting the AAP Full-Time family referral is Sunday, December 15th. This is a county set deadline, and late entries will not be accepted. Parents are encouraged to turn in their forms and supporting documents early to ensure that they are formatted appropriately for the screening portfolio. The AAP Full Time Parent Referral form can be found at the bottom of the AAP In FCPS website.

Monster Mash Dash
Registration is now open! Sign up your family to join us for a 5K or 1-Mile Fun Run, and get some exercise before everyone indulges in Halloween candy! Costumes are encouraged. Now in its eleventh year, this is Franklin Sherman's primary fundraising event of the year and one of its most widely-attended!
Early registration ends Friday, September 27!

Reporting All Day Absences
FCPS has created clearer guidance for reporting attendance. Please use using one of the methods below:

ParentVUE: Beginning in the 2024-25 school year, parents or legal guardians can submit up to two consecutive full-day absences using SIS ParentVUE. Learn more about attendance reporting through ParentVUE on the FCPS website: fcps.edu/attendance.

Call the school's attendance line at 703-506-7979.

Email the front office at franklinshermanelem.attendance@fcps.edu. When emailing an absence or tardy, please include your child's first and last name and their teacher's name.
All Day Absences: The Attendance feature in ParentVUE is the FCPS secure web solution for reporting all day absences.
Partial Absence: To report late arrivals, early dismissals, or to update already submitted attendance, please contact the school. Our school's office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm.
