Kids Do Good Cleans Up

Willow Springs

Did you notice that our school grounds were a little cleaner this week? The PTA-sponsored Kids Do Good after school service club, parent volunteers, and high school student volunteers picked up trash and recycling at Willow Springs on Tuesday, October 8. Thanks Kids Do Good for cleaning up our school!

Kids Do Good is also collecting donations of unopened cereal and snacks for the Loudoun County Hypothermia Shelter through October. To arrange a drop off, please contact Archana@dogoodglobal.org.

A Note from the Principal's Desk

Dear Willow Springs families,

This week we enjoyed returning to our regular schedules and a full week of school, complete with beautiful fall weather and daily recess! We are so grateful for these things, especially in light of what others in our country are experiencing. We hope that your friends and family members are all safe.

We invite all of you to join us for the October PTA meeting on Wednesday from 7-8 PM. You can join us in person in the library or virtually via Zoom. We will send out a new Zoom link on Wednesday that should work for everyone.

Yom Kippur begins today at sundown and it is the holiest day of the year in Judaism. May all in our Jewish community observing Yom Kippur have an easy and meaningful fast.

We hope all of you have a wonderful & safe weekend.  #WillowPride

Next week is National School Lunches Week.

National School Lunch Week

National School Lunch Week (NSLW) — October 14 to October 18, 2024 — celebrates the federal National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This program provides millions of children a nutritious meal each school day.

Balanced nutrition throughout the day contributes to student success in and out of the classroom. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) offers students fruits, vegetables, whole grains, protein, and fat-free or low-fat milk (or dairy substitute) with every school lunch.

President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a student’s life and the impact it has made inside and outside of the classroom.
