#OneTeamOneDream❤️
Little officially launched our house system! The pep rally was filled with energy and excitement from students and staff as they were sorted into their houses!
Our 3rd graders had a blast learning about the importance of ladybugs and their role in our ecosystem. They carefully released their own little friends into the wild, watching as they soared off to find their new homes. Check out the smiles on their faces as they bid farewell to these tiny but mighty creatures! 🐞✨
Our 6th graders had an unforgettable experience exploring the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. They delved into the lives of famous Americans, from presidents to artists and scientists.
A Message from the Admin Team
Dear Little Run Family,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news about the launch of our new House System! This innovative program is designed to foster a strong sense of community, belonging, and school spirit among our students and staff.
This week, all Roadrunners were sorted into their respective houses:
-
Red House (The House of Fire): Led by the proud principals! All Roadrunners are a part of this house!
-
Yellow House (The House of Wind): Led by Ms. Gentry (6th-grade teacher)
-
Green House (The House of Earth): Led by Ms. Norico (2nd-grade teacher)
-
Blue House (The House of Water): Led by Ms. Edmonson (3rd-grade teacher)
Students will earn Roadrunner Tickets throughout the day by demonstrating our "Little Run Way" expectations and "Portrait of a Graduate" attributes. These tickets will be placed in their house's box near the front office, and quarterly celebrations will recognize the accomplishments of each house and its students. Additionally, houses will meet monthly to build community and strengthen their sense of belonging.
We are excited to watch our students thrive within their houses and develop lasting friendships. We believe this system will play a significant role in creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all.
We would also like to thank you for joining us at Back to School Night. Your participation and enthusiasm were invaluable. Teachers will be sharing their slideshow presentations, and we will feature information and resources regarding literacy in our next newsletter.
We look forward to a wonderful week ahead!
Sincerely,
Christie Yarn, Principal
Lesley Hassen, Assistant Principal

Rosh Hashanah
Shanah tovah to our Jewish community celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year! Meaning “head of the year,” Rosh Hashanah is one of Judaism’s holiest days and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection that ends with Yom Kippur. #OurFCPS

The Little Run Way at Recess
Are you looking for a topic to engage in at the dinner table this weekend? Or on the drive to your next destination? Ask your child about The Little Run Way in the RECESS AREA!
Consider asking your child(ren) one or more of the following questions:
- What does it look and sound like to be respectful on the playground?
- How did you show responsibility at recess?
- What does it mean to be ready to go to recess and leave at the end?
Little Run STEAM Lab
Fifth graders engaged in STEAM this week by creating culminating projects for their current science unit on force, motion, and energy. They were tasked with the question, “How can we design food delivery systems to help deliver food to communities in the world where food is scarce?”

✨ The 2023-30 Strategic Plan — Goal 5: Leading for Tomorrow’s Innovation
FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan sets five main goals to create positive change in the division. These goals show where we should focus our attention and will help us align our efforts.
Our final goal is Leading for Tomorrow’s Innovation. We are preparing our students for a future that has yet to be imagined. We must give them the skills they will need to succeed. Watch this video to see students exploring and preparing for careers through Career and Technical Experience programs. See how Goal 5 is being put into practice.
