Taking Off with Reading: A Parent's Guide to the Virginia Literacy Act

We are excited to invite you to a special literacy parent meeting on October 16 at 9:00 am in the cafeteria. This presentation will be repeated at an evening session on October 7 30 at 6:00 pm in the library. The purpose of this meeting is to provide you with valuable information about the Virginia Literacy Act and how it directly impacts your child's education. During the meeting, we will discuss the key components of the Act, including:

  • Early Intervention and Support: Learn about the early identification and support strategies we have in place to help students who may be struggling with reading.
  • Reading Instruction: Understand the evidence-based reading instruction methods we use to ensure all students develop strong literacy skills.
  • Parent Involvement: Discover how you can actively support your child's literacy development at home.
Calendar Reminder

No School

  • Thursday, October 3, is a holiday for all FCPS staff. Schools and offices will be closed. 
  • Friday, October 4, is a teacher workday and there will be no school for students.
