Dear Poplar Tree Families,

Did you know this past Wednesday, October 2 was Custodians Appreciation Day?! We sure do appreciate our custodians, Mr. Hana, Mr. Damian, Ms. Gonzalez, Mr. Nguyen, and Ms. Osei. They work so hard to keep our building looking nice and clean!

From September 15 to October 15, FCPS recognizes and celebrates the histories and cultures of the members of our community who trace their heritage to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS. Learn more about National Hispanic Heritage Month.

As a reminder, next Friday, October 11 is our Fall Picture Day! You can Order your child's picture day photos HERE!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Social Emotional Screener

❤️ SEL Screener: Grades 3-6

FCPS is committed to supporting the mental wellness of all students. The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener provides our students with the opportunity to share their perspective on how their school and community supports them and helps them develop the skills they need to succeed. The screener is offered to all students in grades 3 through 12 in the fall and spring. It addresses skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. Students also share how successful their school and community is at making them feel valued, included, and supported. Screener data is used to plan programming for the division, schools, and individual students.

PTES Students in grades 3-6 will take the SEL Screener during the fall window between October 9-31. After each screening, results are available in the Documents tab of SIS ParentVUE and mailed to families without a ParentVUE account. Families who wish to opt their students out of the SEL Screener can do so via the Parent Digital Consent System OR by completing the Fairfax County Social Emotional Learning Screener Opt-Out Request Form.

For more information, please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage or contact the School Counselor: Beth Mertens at eemertens@fcps.edu .
