NEWS AND NOTES
SAT/PSAT SCHOOL DAY
October 9th is the SAT/PSAT School Day when there will be no scheduled classes and no academies so that all staff can help proctor the tests. Most of our sophomores, juniors, and seniors will be participating in testing on this day, but freshmen will stay home on October 9th. If your student will be taking either the SAT or PSAT, please make sure that they bring their FCPS charger and laptop for the test on Wednesday.
**Most students will be dismissed at 12:20PM. A grab-and-go lunch will be available, and buses will leave the school at 12:55PM.**
Please note that all students with disabilities taught on an adapted curriculum (students receiving low incidence special education services) will continue to receive in-person instruction with a 2-hour early release on October 9.
Action Item: Students received an email from Laura Fitzsimmons on September 24th with specific instructions and their assigned test location. Please help your student check their FCPS Gmail account and read the instructions thoroughly. If your student can’t immediately find this email, have them search their inbox for “Room,” or reach out to Laura Fitzsimmons (Lmfitzsimmon@fcps.edu).
Students also received a “Test Ticket” during Advisory on October 1st that allows them to complete the Digital Readiness Check and explore the Test Preview, which we highly recommend before Wednesday, October 9th. Instructions for accessing the Bluebook testing app and the Digital Readiness Check can be found on the WSHS All Parents/Guardians Schoology Course or in the Student Services Schoology Course, Testing and Assessments folder.
