A Message from Ms. Consolla

Next week looks like the fall we have been waiting for: sunny days with comfortable temperatures. It will be perfect for the outdoor recess that we missed on so many rainy days. In our classrooms, teachers are finishing up assessments that will be shared at parent conferences.

We are still surveying families again to find out how students will be going home on Monday, October 21. Your response on this short form for each child that attends Fort Hunt will help us prepare for a smooth afternoon. I'll also send the form link out through Talking Points.

Thank you for your partnership with us.

Advanced Academics Information Meeting on Wednesday, October 9th

Caregivers interested in learning more about Advanced Academics in FCPS and here at Fort Hunt are invited to join our Advanced Academics Program (AAP) information meeting.  Our Advanced Academics Resources Teacher, Preshion Lynch, will host a Zoom session that families can attend. This meeting is geared for all families in all grade levels to learn about AAP.

  • Wednesday, October 9; 6:30-7:15 pm on Zoom (Link will be sent out to all families that morning.)

A second meeting specifically focused on the Full-time Cluster service referral process will be held in November. While all caregivers are welcome to attend, only current Grade 2-6 students are eligible to go through the referral process this school year.

  • Wednesday, November 13; 6:30-7:15pm on Zoom (Link will be sent out to all families that morning.)

If you have questions about these events, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Lynch at pmlynch@fcps.edu.

📚 Social Studies Basal Resources Review

FCPS is adopting Social Studies Basal Resources for the 2025-26 school year. Basal resources are the primary resources used to support instruction in a given subject. Public review of the instructional materials under consideration — which is part of the process for selecting new resources — is underway. Visit the Community Review webpage for more information on how to view the materials online or in person.

All community feedback will be shared with School Board members before they vote to select materials in spring 2025. FCPS adopts basal resources by the process outlined in Regulation 3004.
