Message from Mr. Greata

We had an incredibly successful week at Carter G. Woodson High School! A big congratulations to our coed golf team for winning the Patriot District Championship title. This is the first time we've claimed this title since 1997. Special shout-out to Mark Heinz, who was the first-place medalist, shooting an impressive 69, which is 3-under-par!

Later that evening, we celebrated our field hockey seniors on Senior Night and cheered them on as they secured a victory against West Potomac. A huge thank you to Coach Stribling, Coach Miller, Coach Deer, Coach Brocato, and Coach Cho for your dedication and leadership with these amazing seniors.

Did you know that Woodson has over 120 coaches? Whether it's a coach from the fall, winter, or spring season, please take a moment to thank them this coming Monday, National Coaches Day, for their tireless work and support of our young athletes.

With over 380,000 square feet of space, our custodians work hard every day and night to keep our school in top shape. On Wednesday, October 2nd, we had the chance to show our appreciation on National Custodian Appreciation Day. Our school literally couldn't function without these dedicated individuals. Thank you for keeping Carter G. Woodson High School a clean and safe place to learn, teach, and work!

A quick reminder: Wednesday, October 9th, is PSAT/SAT Day.

  • 9th graders do not report to school
  • Seniors who did not register for the SAT do not report to school
  • All Juniors and Sophomores are automatically registered to take the PSAT/NMSQT
  • Students with disabilities on an adapted curriculum (Category B services) will still attend school
  • Bus transportation will be provided, and dismissal will be on a 2-hour early release schedule

Be sure to check your email for a survey about the cell phone storage pilot, which was sent earlier this week via the Qualtrics platform.

Tonight, our Cavaliers take on the Lake Braddock Bruins at 7 PM, at Carter G. Woodson High School. It’s a "Pink Out", so come out and show your support.

Have a great weekend!

Kevin Greata
Principal
