Churchill Chatter - Issue 4, October 7, 2024

Dear Churchill Road families,

We hope you had a wonderful weekend. It’s a great time of year to enjoy outdoor activities with your family.

Next Monday, October 14 is a teacher workday and there is no school for students.

Be sure to save the date - our family favorite, Book Fair, returns the week of October 21.  The Book Fair will be open late Wednesday, October 23, from 5-8 p.m., for families unable to come in during the day.

Highlighted below is an opportunity for sixth graders from Cooper Middle School Theatre Department.

Our next three hour early release Monday is October 28.  We are happy to share that SACC will provide coverage for our SACC families.

Enjoy the next few weeks.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cherith Pierson-Barr

Field Day Help Needed!

We are excited to announce we are having our Field Day in the Fall!  Our Fall Field Day will be held on Friday, October 18th!   Our field day will use cooperative games as an opportunity to build teamwork and relationships within our classrooms.  We are very excited to be offering 15 different activities.  Another change is we have added a 3rd time slot just for our new Kindergarteners!

Field day will be divided into 3 blocks.   Please see the allotted times for each grade below. We are in need of parent volunteers to assist at each specific station.

  • Grades 1-3- 8:25-11:00 AM
  • Kindergarten - 11:00-12:15
  • Grades 4-6 12:40-12:45

Responsibilities at your assigned station are to reset the station after each group and briefly review rules of the activity.

If you would like to volunteer for Field Day please use the link to sign up!  Thank you very much for your help--We look forward to a fun and active day!

Character Strengths Focus

The next character strength our school community is focusing on is Integrity.

Integrity means being honest, truthful, and genuine.

To practice and encourage the character strengths with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions about these character strengths.
