A Message from Ms. Consolla

Believe it or not, we are already halfway through the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year.  Throughout the month of October, there are several fun events for students and families as well as several holidays, workdays, and early dismissal days. We are surveying families again to find out how students will be going home on Monday, October 21. Your response on this short form for each child that attends Fort Hunt will help us prepare for a smooth afternoon.

Next week will be short week for students. Schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, October 3 for Rosh Hashanah, and students will be off on Friday, October 4 for a teacher workday. Best wishes for a safe and restful long weekend.

Thank you for your partnership with us.

Jean

Advanced Academics Information Meetings

Caregivers interested in learning more about Advanced Academics in FCPS and here at Fort Hunt are invited to join our Advanced Academics Program (AAP) information meeting.  Our Advanced Academics Resources Teacher, Preshion Lynch, will host a Zoom session that families can attend. This meeting is geared for all families in all grade levels to learn about AAP.

  • Wednesday, October 9; 6:30-7:15 pm on Zoom (Link will be sent out to all families that morning.)

A second meeting specifically focused on the Full-time Cluster service referral process will be held in November. While all caregivers are welcome to attend, only current Grade 2-6 students are eligible to go through the referral process this school year.

  • Wednesday, November 13; 6:30-7:15pm on Zoom (Link will be sent out to all families that morning.)

If you have questions about these events, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Lynch at pmlynch@fcps.edu.

pe class

While the rainy weather kept students off the playground for recess on some days, students were able to enjoy some physical activity in the gym during PE classes.

🗓️ Attendance Tip: Scheduling Family Trips or Events

Good attendance is an important life skill that will help students succeed in school and beyond.

When planning trips or family events, refer to the FCPS calendar and try to use weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students absent 10% of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered chronically absent.

When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or another reason, you must report the absence.

Watch this video with tips on understanding the FCPS school year calendar and visit the Attendance webpage for additional information. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

Save the Date: Veterans' Day Celebration & Luncheon

Mark your calendars for Friday, November 8. We will hold our annual Veterans' Day celebration event and will be adding in a family luncheon where all parents are invited to join their child for our special turkey lunch. More details about purchasing meal tickets & volunteer help needed will be coming.
