Principal's Message

Homecoming Week is always a busy time in Bruin Nation and this week has been no different. From PJ's to mis-matched shoes, from the hallway parade to the high school pep rally, it was an exciting time. Although the parade was canceled, Bite of Braddock is still a go in the gym lobby and cafeteria.

Next Thursday is a school holiday for Rosh Hashanah. Shanah tovah to our Jewish community. And Friday, October 4 is a teacher workday and school is closed for students.

Go Bruins!

Important Reminders

Reflection and Silent Space Accommodations

As we begin a new school year, let’s be mindful of the Expectations for Meditation and Silent Reflection Accommodation Regulation. This new regulation was developed last Spring to ensure that students and staff, regardless of religious backgrounds, have reasonable accommodations and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within their school or building. This effort aligns with the FCPS’ commitment to providing students and staff with a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive work environment.

Students are only permitted to use Meditation and Silent Reflection rooms during instructional time when a request cannot be accommodated in any other way that does not impact instruction. Parents/caregivers must provide written permission for students to miss instructional time regularly.

If you would like to give permission for your child to miss instructional time for prayer or meditation, please complete this form.

The 2023-30 Strategic Plan — Goal 2: Safe, Supported, Included, Empowered
