We are thrilled to celebrate Blue Star Welcome Week! This week, families and students new to our school, as well as to Fort Belvoir, were greeted with a warm welcome to kick off the festivities. Each day, we are honoring the different branches of service, recognizing the men and women who serve. It is imperative that our families feel embraced and supported as they join our school community, and we are committed to making this a memorable and welcoming experience for all.
As the son of a military officer and the brother of a retired military officer, I deeply appreciate the courage and resilience of students who miss their loved ones while they are away protecting our nation. Please take a moment to watch this Blue Star Welcome Week message from our Superintendent, Dr. Reid.
We encourage everyone in our school community to join us in extending a warm welcome to the new military families joining Fort Belvoir. Together, let’s show our support for these families and continue building a strong, caring community.
Together we are and will continue to be Fort Belvoir strong!

The Scholastic Book Fair is Here!
We are thrilled to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Fort Belvoir Primary School! Hosted by our amazing PTO, this week-long event will take place in the school library, filled with an incredible selection of books and other exciting items for all ages. We encourage families to join us, Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 6:00-8:00pm for a special evening of book browsing and fun. It’s a fantastic opportunity to help foster a love of reading in our students while spending quality time as a family.
In addition to sparking a passion for reading, the Scholastic Book Fair also helps support our school. A portion of all proceeds will directly benefit Fort Belvoir Primary, allowing us to enhance educational resources and continue providing an enriching learning environment for our students. We hope to see you there!
HIPPY and Early Literacy Program
We are excited to announce that the HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) and Early Literacy Class instructors will be visiting Fort Belvoir Primary on October 24th at 2:00 PM to meet with parents and caregivers interested in these enriching programs. HIPPY is a highly engaging initiative that not only supports children's early literacy but also strengthens family bonds through interactive learning.
During these classes, parents and families have the opportunity to learn from each other as they participate in discussions led by the instructors. Topics covered include "The Joy of Sharing Books," "Learning Through Play," "Positive Ways to Communicate with Children," "Understanding Behavior," and "Preparing for Kindergarten." This program offers a unique chance for families to gain valuable skills and knowledge while building a supportive community. We look forward to welcoming everyone!
October 2nd is National Custodian Appreciation Day, and we are excited to celebrate our incredible custodial team (Milagro Cruz, Christiana Boamah, Yaw Bediako, Aurora Gutierrez and Jacob McAnney)! Their dedication and hard work ensure that our school remains clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. We are so grateful for their continuous efforts in keeping our building in excellent condition, and we encourage you to join us in showing them our appreciation. Families are encouraged to send warm words of appreciation or flowers.
Let's make sure they feel valued for all they do!
