A great time was had by all at the Military Family Breakfast! Thanks to all who attended.


Innovation Hour and Electives

Today was the first official day for our electives programs and Innovation Hour. These programs are Friday afternoons from 2:20 - 3:20 pm. 

  • Innovation Hour is held in Kindergarten - Fourth Grade classrooms. 
  • Electives for 5th and 6th grade are taught by our teachers.  

Both of these programs are unique to Wakefield Forest ES.

Renovation Update

We were so excited to have our gym open this week. The art rooms will open on Monday, September 30, 2024.


Next Monday Three Hour Early Release October 21

As we move into October we will be planning for our next three hour early release on Monday, October 21, 2024. 

Our plan is to dismiss students in the same way that they were dismissed in September unless we hear that you would like to make a change. You can let us know by contacting the school office at 703-503-2300.

We will send out confirmations October 14, 2024. 


9/30 - WFES Green Team Meeting

Would you like to be part of the WFES Green Team?  We will have our first meeting Monday, September 30th from 3:30-4:30.   All students, parents and guardians are welcome. We will continue the good work we started last year.

Our mission is to encourage student driven environmental stewardship through hands-on activities in our school and community.  These activities might include reducing waste, conserving energy, planting and maintaining wildlife habitats or tending to gardens. 5th or 6th students who are interested in being a Green Team Officer were given an application this week.  Please speak with your child about this leadership opportunity.  Applications are due Monday, September 23rd.

Wakefield Forest ES is a Positivity Project school. Each week teachers share lessons about one of the 24 positive character attributes.

Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Overview October 9

Free Immunization Clinics

Safeway Pharmacy will be providing immunizations for all FCPS students at no cost! Parents or guardians may schedule an appointment and provide consent for their student(s). The immunization clinics are being held at Frost Middle School, 4101 Pickett Rd. Fairfax, VA 22032, on:  

  • Tuesday, October 8, 3 to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Students under the age of 19, with a scheduled appointment and parental consent, must be accompanied by their parent, guardian, or another adult over the age of 18. 

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are highly encouraged to avoid wait times. A parent or guardian must accompany walk-in students under the age of 19 in order to provide consent.

Elementary School Clinics - Health Department

The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) will provide immunizations for FCPS elementary students on limited early release Mondays at their district offices. All school-required immunizations will be offered at no cost. Call 703-246-7100 to make your appointment

Register for PTA's Fall After School Programs TODAY!

Registration for our Fall 2024 After School Enrichment Program opened on September 20th and will close on September 29th. The fall session will run from Oct. 15 through Dec. 13, with the third week of December set aside for any make-up sessions. Signups are done through the Baroody Camps web site and first-time users will need to create an account. You can get to that website via our PTA website www.wfespta.org site, and click on Fall 2024 after school activities. Sessions do fill up, and Baroody maintains waitlists. For any questions about the registration process, you can contact Baroody directly at info@baroodycamps.com

🎤 Community Conversations with Superintendent Dr. Reid

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid invites you to share your questions or concerns regarding Fairfax County Public Schools. Your voice matters! Community Conversations will be held this Fall 6:30-7:30 p.m. on:

  • Monday, September 30, at Mount Vernon Woods Elementary 
  • Monday, October 14, at Fairhill Elementary 
  • Monday, October 21, at Virginia Run Elementary 
  • Wednesday, October 30, at Herndon Middle

Howling Fun Run -- Call for Family and Local-Owned Business Sponsors

Our biggest fundraiser is the Howling Fun Run, coming up on October 25th. 

  • We want to feature local and WFES family-owned businesses!
  • If you own or love a local business and want to see their logo on your kids' backs all year round, PLEASE send names or contacts and we’ll do all the work.
  • We have a nifty one-page pdf detailing all the great benefits of sponsoring the Howling Fun Run (teaser alert: 1000's of local eyeballs + an amazing school we all love.)
