Franklin Community,
We had a great start to the week with our Blue Star Welcome Week Breakfast for military connected families! Thank you to all of the parents and students who were in attendance. It was great to share the connections that so many of us have to the military as well as hear about the experiences of our military families. Thank you to all of you for your service and for dedicating some time to Franklin!
We also had a great week in sports. Our Cross Country team started their season with a great showing at Hughes MS, including an individual win in the boys race! Additionally, both our boys and girls basketball teams won last night against Stone Middle School. Thank you to all of our student athletes for representing Franklin well with your performances and sportsmanship!
Please note that next week is not a typical five school-day week! Students will be at school Monday through Wednesday, with the holiday on Thursday and a Teacher Workday on Friday.

Attendance Tip: Scheduling Family Trips or Events
Good attendance is an important life skill that will help students succeed in school and beyond.
When planning trips or family events, refer to the FCPS calendar and try to use weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is one day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students absent 10% of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered chronically absent.
When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or another reason, you must report the absence to their school. Most schools have an attendance link near the bottom of their homepage. If you are unsure how to report an absence, please call your school’s front office.
Watch this video with tips on understanding FCPS’ school calendar and visit our Attendance webpage for additional information. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!
Progress Reports in ParentVUE/StudentVUE
At the start of this year, you should have already verified that your contact information is correct in ParentVUE. It is extremely important that your email address and phone numbers are correct.
Starting in middle school, parents and guardians have access to weekly progress reports beginning September 9, 2024. To activate Weekly Progress Reports via email, log-in to your SIS ParentVUE account, verify that you have a primary email address, and select your preferences in the “My Account” tab.
