Navy Update - 9.22.24

this week 9.20

This week was all about food and fun at Navy.  In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, Navy's Admin team fired up the grill to serve cheeseburgers, turkey burgers, and Beyond burgers for our wonderful staff - what a great way to celebrate together!

Friday brought us amazing weather for Navy's annual Fall Festival, hosted by our fantastic PTO. It was an incredible evening with delicious food, music, games, and an opportunity to connect with other Navy families and staff.  A big thank you to everyone who came out, and a special thanks to our PTO for organizing such an engaging event!

This is a friendly reminder that Monday, September 23rd, will be an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM to allow our staff time for professional development and planning. We appreciate your support in ensuring a smooth and seamless transition for all students.

Students to be Surveyed on Social-Emotional Learning

SEL

FCPS is committed to supporting the mental wellness of all students. The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener helps our students share their perspectives on how their schools and communities support them and help them develop the skills they need to succeed.

The screener is offered to all students in grades 3 through 12 in the fall and spring. It addresses skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. Students also share how successful their school and community are at making them feel valued, included, and supported. Screener data is used to plan programming for the division, schools, and individual students.

After each screening, results will be available in the Documents tab of SIS ParentVUE and mailed to families who don’t have a ParentVUE account. For more information, please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage.

Families who wish to opt their child out may do so by completing the opt-out form in the Annual Notice packet or SIS ParentVUE. For more information, please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage or contact our front office

Navy Elementary’s Annual Veterans Day Program

Monday, November 11, 2024 is a holiday for both students and staff. However, Navy Elementary would like to continue our tradition of honoring our Navy community veterans. We are wondering which day (Friday, November 8th or Tuesday, November 12th) is more convenient for families to attend a breakfast and honor parade. To help us with planning, please answer the question in this Google Form if you or someone in your family is an active duty, retired, or reserve member of our United States military. Please respond by October 4th.

Thank you for your service!

Book Fair Header

The book fair is coming!  Get ready for our preview days this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday!

No Fuss Fundraiser Continues

No Fuss Fundraiser

The No Fuss Fundraiser is an easy, no hassle way for families to support Navy Elementary without having to sell candy, magazines, gift wrap, or collect anything, or run anywhere!  We are happy to share that the first fundraising goal of $10,000 has been achieved!

The Navy PTO is a non-profit 501(3)(c), so donations are tax-deductible. 100% of the proceeds support PTO-sponsored events, activities, initiatives, and materials to benefit the entire school.

Donations to the PTO helped fund new smart projectors for every classroom in 2024.  Previous donations also funded laptops for every student, smart boards for classrooms, sunshades and playground equipment, the outdoor track, transportation for field trips, enrichment programs, assemblies, family events, and much more.

Any donation amount is welcome and appreciated. Please consider supporting our school and PTO by donating here.
