Did you know that Fort Hunt is one of the job training sites for the Pulley Career Center, an FCPS school next to West Potomac HS. Students come to work here everyday and support our staff with clerical tasks, cleaning, supporting library operations, filling breakfast & lunch bags and more! We are so proud to be part of this program and for our students to share the same learning space.

A Message from Ms. Consolla
Thank you to everyone for making our first early release Monday a successful. There were many moving parts, and we appreciate everyone's commitment to not one, but two safe dismissals. Our teaching staff was able to use the time for planning and preparing as well as learning the state-mandated literacy curriculum.
We will have our next 3-hour early release in a month on Monday, October 21. Prior to that, I'll send out a quick survey for parents to let us know how their child is going home. Beginning in October, families who are enrolled in the afternoon SACC program will be able to use it on the early release Monday.
If they haven't done so already, teachers will be reaching out about scheduling conferences. All teachers are expected to meet, either in person or over Zoom, with the families of their AM class by mid-December at the latest. If your child has a different teacher in the afternoon, that teacher will collaborate with the AM teacher to share important notes. Of course, parents are more than welcome to request a conference with the PM teacher. Students are completing a variety of assessments in math & literacy right now, and teachers will share about those results. We see the conference as a dialogue and want to hear your insights about your child's learning.
Thank you for your partnership with us.

Welcome Blue Star Families
This week is Blue Star Welcome Week! Blue Star Welcome Week was created to recognize the 600,000 military families that move to new communities each year. This special week raises awareness and builds support for military connected families across the country. During Blue Star Welcome Week, it is our goal to proactively improve our military connected families’ sense of belonging to our school by forging strong connections between our military family members, the faculty/staff, and the resources available to ensure your student’s success throughout the school year.
Our Family Liaison, Antoine Pierce, is a great resource for all of our new families. He can be reached at 703-619-2674 and is at school M/W/F from 8am-1pm.

2024 Student Rights and Responsibilities
FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. Read Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid’s letter to families regarding the SR&R.
Parents/caregivers should talk to their child(ren) about expectations for this school year. Also, please log in to SIS ParentVUE and sign to acknowledge your review of the SR&R, or sign and return the signature sheet to your child’s school by Monday, September 30.
You can submit questions online regarding the SR&R.
🤒 When a Student Should Stay Home From School
Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.
Help your child succeed by encouraging them to attend as many days as possible, but do make sure your child stays home if they are sick. Visit the FCPS website for information on when to keep your child at home.
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify us at Fort Hunt so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with our school's public health nurse, Ms. Nikki Somerville.
Read about how families can help form good attendance habits. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!
Save the Date: Veterans' Day Celebration & Luncheon
Mark your calendars for Friday, November 8. We will hold our annual Veterans' Day celebration event and will be adding in a family luncheon where all parents are invited to join their child for our special turkey lunch. More details about purchasing meal tickets & volunteer help needed will be coming.

We are honored to work with your family this year and will work everyday to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for your child. We can't do it alone. Please contact us when there is a question or concern, especially related to bullying. As a parent, you will often hear about something before staff might. Thank you for all your support.
