A Note from the Principal's Desk

Dear Willow Springs families,

Despite some rain this week, we have all enjoyed great weather the past two weeks and students have been able to take full advantage of outdoor recess. This is a wonderful way to head into the official start of fall which begins on Sunday.

There are so many great things happening all over our school. Please be sure to stay up to date with this newsletter and with newsletters from your child's teacher. Next week we begin the kickoff to Boosterthon, our fundraising fun run.

We hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Dylan Taylor, Principal

Ipsa Stringer, Assistant Principal

Laura Tapper, Assistant Principal

Monday the 23rd will be a 3 hour early release day.

Early Dismissal & Specials Schedule

Due to the change in schedule, students will NOT have specials on Monday so please don't send instruments to school on Monday.

On Tuesday, all classes will follow the MONDAY specials schedule. Please plan for Monday specials on Tuesday and make sure your child comes to school on Tuesday with everything they need such as instruments, sneakers for PE, etc.

AAP Newsletter

Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Information Meeting

Join us on Monday, September 30 in the Willow Springs cafeteria from 5-6 p.m. Ashley Raymond, our advanced academics resource teacher will lead the presentation on the different levels of academic services available at WSES.

Upcoming Vision & Hearing Screening

Vision and Hearing screening will be held on October 9 & 10 for all Kindergarten, third grade and students who are new to FCPS.

The purpose of the screening is to identify students who need further evaluation due to difficulty seeing the screening chart or hearing the screening tones. If your child wears glasses, please make sure that the glasses are at school on screening day. Parents will be notified by letter if screening results indicate that further evaluation is needed. Prompt follow-up with your health care provider is recommended as vision and hearing difficulties can interfere with learning. If you have any questions, please contact the Health Room at 703-679-6010.

✔️ Parent/Caregiver Checklist: Have You Completed These Important Forms?

We understand that the multiple school forms caregivers receive during the first weeks of school can feel overwhelming, but each one helps set your child up for a successful school year! If you do not have a SIS ParentVUE account, please contact your child’s school for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.

Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R)

The SR&R document explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses. Parents using SIS ParentVUE will be prompted to sign the document when logging in to that platform. A printable version of the document with a signature sheet is available on the SR&R webpage. This form should be signed and returned by Monday, September 30.
