A Message from Principal Ritter
Dear Kings Glen Families,
As many families are aware, this year teachers are using new curriculums in both math and language arts. You can see more about the FCPS elementary curriculum on the public website. https://www.fcps.edu/academics/curriculum/subject-area and ask your child what they are learning and how it might be different from instruction in past years. Mr. Aversa and I truly appreciate how much time it takes for the staff to incorporate the new approaches and content into their classroom instruction. We also appreciate all our student Gators who continue to learn and grow alongside all of us. It is amazing to see the hard work and dedication of all our Gators - students, their families, and Kings Glen staff!

Save the Date! Parent Math Meeting at KGES
Monday, October 21st
Join us for an informative and engaging parent math meeting on Monday, October 21st at 11 a.m. in the library. Learn more about the CodeUp Grant and how we are incorporating computational thinking into the math curriculum. We will do a rich math task that will show the power of problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
No Toys or Sporting Equipment
Toys and sporting equipment should not be brought to school. Toys and sporting equipment can be a distraction in the educational setting, may get lost, or could cause safety issues off campus. For these reasons, these items are prohibited. All such items will be kept in the main office for parents to come pick up at their earliest convenience during office hours (8 a.m.–4 p.m). Each grade level has equipment for recess; students are not permitted to bring individual sporting equipment to school.
There are instances when a teacher may request a specific item from students for an event or class activity. On these occasions, parents/guardians will be informed.
Pixel Can Art Food Drive
Now through October 2nd
What: We are collecting 14-16 oz. sized cans of vegetables and beans. Cans that “lock together” when stacked are best for the project.
When: Collection of cans starts NOW until October 2nd.
Where: Drop of your cans and other dry food goods in the boxes by the front office.
Why: We will donate the food to ECHO in Springfield. Before it is donated, students will create a pixel can art sculpture to be displayed for the school.

KP/KG PTA News
Booster Wrap Up. Once again, we were humbled by the community support for our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are still collecting pledges at https://www.mybooster.com until the end of the week. We have raised over $60,000 for field trips, outdoor benches and picnic tables, color copiers, and classroom furniture at both schools, as well as for other school and PTA projects. Nearly 80% of the entire student population registered, and everyone was able to participate in the fun run and received a brand new shirt to wear. This fundraiser is a huge undertaking, and special thanks go to Sarah Maccubbin-Tremper, Jen Argenta, Lisa Anderson, and everyone else who volunteered throughout the program and on Fun Run day!
Our next Spirit Night is coming this FRIDAY. Code Ninjas is offering a Parents Night Out from 6-8:30PM on Friday, September 27th. Drop the kids (must be aged 7+) for a night of friends, pizza, Minecraft, and Roblox! $35/student - all proceeds will go to the KP/KG PTA.
Stay tuned for information on our KP/KG Spiritwear sale!
