Celebrating Korean Traditions: Chuseok (추석)

Tuesday, September 17 marked an important holiday in the Korean culture: Chuseok (추석).  In South Korea, Chuseok is the most significant traditional holiday.  Koreans celebrate Chuseok to mark a successful harvest, share a feast of traditional Korean foods with their families, and honor their ancestors.

Students from our Korean program celebrated Chuseok this week by learning about the significance of the holiday and the traditions connected to it.  After learning about Chuseok, students shared what they learned with Chantilly Academy staff members and offered some traditional foods including songpyeon, a type of rice cake typically enjoyed during Chuseok.

We loved learning about this special Korean holiday alongside our Korean students this week!

net admin

Students in our Net Admin 1 class made a straight-through ethernet cable this week.  This task required a great deal of attention to detail as students had to make sure the colored wires were in the correct order prior to putting the RJ45 connector on.

Once students successfully attached the connector on each side of the cord, they tested their wire to see if it worked.  Great job, Net Admin students!
