A Message from Principal Ritter
Dear Kings Glen Families,
Thank you to all of our volunteers, Ms. Kirtner, Mr. Newhard, the Kings Glen staff, and especially all of our student Gators who made our second annual Gator Games a huge success! The weather was beautiful, the laughter was loud, and the sportsmanship was incredible. Education happens all day, everyday, at school. Students had the opportunity to apply many of the skills learned during morning meetings and PE during Gator Games. They also had the opportunity to work with students in different grades and build relationships with additional staff members. Thank you for your continued support and partnership - we are GATOR Together!

Students can win prizes for collecting pledges. ALL students will participate in the Fun Run event on Friday, September 20th, regardless of financial participation. ALL students will also receive a T-Shirt to wear for the event and for future spirit days. Kings Glen Blue Star Welcome Week Spirit Week - September 23-27
Blue Star Welcome Week is a nationwide initiative to ensure military families feel a sense of belonging to their school communities. Kings Glen will be celebrating with a Spirit Week!
Monday: KG welcomes new military families - wear colors of a branch of the U.S. military
Tuesday: Shout out to our military kids - wear purple

Pixel Can Art Food Drive
Now through October 2nd
What: We are collecting 14-16 oz. sized cans of vegetables and beans. Cans that “lock together” when stacked are best for the project.
When: Collection of cans starts NOW until October 2nd.
Where: Drop of your cans and other dry food goods in the boxes by the front office.
Why: We will donate the food to ECHO in Springfield. Before it is donated, students will create a pixel can art sculpture to be displayed for the school.
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.
Help your child succeed by encouraging them to attend as many days as possible, but do make sure your child stays home if they are sick. Visit FCPS’ website for information on when to keep your child at home.
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify their teacher so that support can be provided if needed. Also, keep an open line of communication with your school's public health staff.
Read about how families can help form good attendance habits. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!
FCPS CARES!
FCPS CARES is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. Learn how you can acknowledge an FCPS employee.
