Important Dates

  • September 23rd, Monday - 3 hr Early release

Message from the Principal

Powell families,

Thank you for all that donated food and time to make our Chuseok celebration a great success for the students in the Korean Immersion Program today! Chuseok is a celebration of the good harvest and to honor that Koreans are known to share a feast of Korean traditional foods. Our students in the immersion program enjoyed such a feast and also participated in games and activities to engage in Korean culture. Thank you to all that made this day special. We appreciate you!

Next week in the Tuesday folder you will receive a letter confirming your family’s plans for the September 23rd Early Release Monday. Please check your child’s folder for this important communication. If you find that you need to make changes to your child’s dismissal plan for that date please email Larissa James at sljames@fcps.edu.

Your Proud Principal,
Jamie Luerssen
Principal

AAP News & Notes

Parent Ability Retest Requests:   If your child is in grades 3-6 and you would like your child to be retested, please send an email to our testing coordinator Eun J Cho, Echo1@fcps.edu, or the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART) Kathleen Bach, kmbach@fcps.edu.   The email should include your child’s full name, student ID, and a statement indicating a request for a retest.   The deadline to submit a retest for CogAT is September 15th.   The deadline to submit a retest for NNAT is October 15th.   You may only have one retest on one ability test, not both.

Picture Day

What to expect on picture day

  1. When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
  2. If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
  3. A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
  4. When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.

All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.
