September 13 - News and Notes!

Rolling Valley Families,

We had a wonderful week, and the weather made it even better! A big thank you to our families for the collaboration and support as we worked together to ensure every student has a plan for our first early release day. We have heard from 100% of our community! As a reminder, this will take place on Monday, September 16, with dismissal at 1:00 PM.

We're also excited to welcome everyone Back to School Night on Thursday, September 19, from 6:00-8:00 PM. We hope you can join us as we kick off the school year together.

Looking ahead, we invite you to join us for the in-person PTA meeting on Monday, September 23, at 7:00 PM. We’ll be gathering in the school library, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for your continued support!

What's happening in our classrooms!

Persusive Writing and Communication

Our 5th grade students have been hard at work developing their persuasive writing skills! Recently, they engaged in thoughtful discussions, sharing ideas, and communicating their perspectives on various topics, including more recess time, owning pets, and whether we should have school uniforms. As they listened and responded to one another, their ability to express and refine their opinions through discourse grew stronger.

Events in the RV Community

Bike Rodeo

Come learn about bike safety at the annual Tour de Mount Vernon Bike Ride with the first-ever bike rodeo on Saturday, October 19! This will be a great way for children to learn about helmet safety, practice stopping for pedestrians and cars, all while having fun in the process! A South County High School student is doing this as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. See flier for more information about the Bike Rodeo, the Youth and Family Ride, and the longer adult rides around the Mount Vernon district.

West Spingfield HS Homecoming Parade

West Springfield High School’s SGA homecoming committee invites all staff, students and parents, and the community, to our annual homecoming parade. This particular event features a variety of floats, performances, and our wonderful students that make up our school. We believe that it would be a great opportunity to have your students experience this exciting school spirit. This is a special event for our school and community, and we would be honored if you were a part of the celebration.
