Franklin Families-
We had another great week at Franklin! Students completed their physical education tests through their PE class. I didn't run the pacer this round but I'm planning to put on my running shoes the next time! Additionally, students attended a Student Rights and Responsibilities assembly with their grade-level administrator. Ms. Reid and Ms. Burrowbridge shared with students important information regarding behavior expectations. If you or your students have any questions regarding the SR&R, feel free to reference the Student Rights and Responsibilities page on the FCPS website.
We also had our first of two lockdown drills for the school year yesterday. Our students did a great job and showed that they understand the importance of taking these drills seriously. Our second lockdown drill will not take place until January.
We are pleased to invite our military connected families for a Family Coffee to recognize Blue Star Welcome Week! The event will be held on Monday, September 23 from 9:00 - 10:30 am. A light breakfast along with coffee and other drinks will be provided. Our military connected students will be bringing home more information next week. We hope to see you there!
Lastly, with the Chantilly Homecoming game tonight I wanted to reiterate expectations moving forward regarding middle schoolers attendance at Chantilly High School sporting events. Middle School students must be accompanied to any sporting event by a supervising, paying adult. Additionally, spectators are not permitted to bring backpack or water bottles. We are all part of the larger Charger community, and CHS welcomes middle school attendees at games, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Please help us maintain order and provide a supportive environment for all fans by following this expectation. These expectations are consistent across most high schools in FCPS, including Oakton HS.
I hope to see many of you at the Chantilly Homecoming tonight!
Sincerely,
Tom DeRusso
Principal

Please make sure your child has all of their necessary immunizations. Remember, all students are required to be immunized against certain diseases to attend school in Virginia. This is an important part of keeping children healthy!

Please check with your family's health care provider to make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for the 2024-25 school year. If your child needs a vaccine to complete their records, make an appointment with your healthcare provider, visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a list of child immunization clinics, or access other local services. Be wise and immunize!
