Dear Forestville Friends and Families,

We’ve got a lot happening this week, and I hope to see many of you at our events! Whether you’re curious about our social events, how we manage the PTA budget, or who makes up our PTA team, this week’s your chance to find out.

First up, our PTA’s first General Meeting is happening this Tuesday night, September 10th, at 7 PM in the cafeteria. If we haven’t met yet, I’m looking forward to meeting you, and if we have, I can’t wait to reconnect! We’ll be introducing this year’s officers, sharing our budget plans, and we have a special guest speaker, Katelyn Semales, joining us to talk about internet safety. It’s such an important topic these days—helping kids stay safe online by learning how to think before they click, share, or chat. I hope you’ll find it helpful!

Before the PTA meeting at 6:30pm, we’re also having an in-person room parent meeting, led by our awesome VPs of Community Affairs. We’re excited to bring this meeting back in person, so if you’re a room parent, we’d love to see you there!

Later in the week, we’re wrapping things up with a couple of coffee chats. On Thursday, September 12th, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, 2nd-grade parents are invited to swing by the cafeteria and connect with other parents. There will also be PTA members around to answer any questions.  And THANK you to those parents that came to our Kindergarten and 1st grade coffees - I know I really enjoyed chatting and reminiscing about 1st grade.

And speaking of coffee, I’m thrilled about our Principal Coffee this Friday, September 13th, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Come meet Acting Principal Afton Carlson, have a casual chat, and congratulate her on surviving her first two weeks in the new role!

Also, this week’s the perfect time to give yourself a break from cooking! Head to Mookie’s on September 11th and mention Forestville when you dine in or order takeout, and part of the proceeds will support our school. It’s a win-win!

If you’re not already part of the Cardinal Fund, now’s a great time to join the fun. When you donate $150 or more, you’ll be invited to a workout class with our Forestville staff. What better way to connect with them than by breaking a sweat together? It’s one of the many little perks that come with your support.

Now, I have to tell you—my personal highlight of the fall is our Fall Carnival! It’s always an unforgettable night, filled with cotton candy, games, dancing, and so much more. If you haven’t grabbed your tickets yet, now’s the time. We’re also looking for volunteers, so if you (or your middle or high schooler) want to help out, check out the sign-up link. And don’t worry about dinner—Chick-fil-A pre-orders will be available to keep you fueled up for the fun!

We have 33 PTA members signed up.  We need more parents to help!  As a PTA member, you are able to vote on matters that affect the community of students and staff at Forestville Elementary School.  We need your support to be successful in refreshing STEAM equipment as well as Music equipment!  This year we are doing things a little differently, as a PTA member contributing at the $150+  level you are invited to a workout class with teachers and staff.  At the $250 level you are invited to the workout  as well as a special happy hour this Fall hosted by Brx.  At the $500 level you have the opportunity to dine with the new principal & assistant principal of Forestville!

A presentation for parents including education on NetSmartz by NCMEC provides parents and educators with essential tools to help children navigate the digital landscape safely. The program focuses on equipping adults with the knowledge to guide kids in recognizing online dangers like cyberbullying, privacy threats, and predatory behavior. Through interactive resources and real-life scenarios, NetSmartz empowers adults to foster open communication, set appropriate boundaries, and create a safe online environment where children can thrive.
