Back to School Night Monday, September 9
We are excited to invite you to our Back To School Night on September 9th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This event opportunity for you to learn more about our school, meet your student's teachers, and explore the resources available to your family.
We have two identical sessions. Please choose one session to attend.
Session One:

3:00 PM - 3:20 PM: Classroom Visits – Visit your child's classroom and meet their teacher.

3:20 PM - 3:40 PM: Grade Level Presentations – Gain insight into grade-specific curriculum and expectations.

3:40 PM - 4:00 PM: Resource Fair in the Cafeteria – Explore the various resources available to support your child's education in our cafeteria.
Session Two:

4:00 PM - 4:20 PM: Classroom Visits

4:20 PM - 4:40 PM: Grade Level Presentations – A second opportunity to learn about the curriculum and expectations for your child's grade level.

4:40 PM - 5:00 PM: Resource Fair in the Cafeteria – If you missed it during Session One, you can still explore the valuable resources available during this time.

Medicaid Waiver Basics
Date: Wednesday, October 2, 2024

Location: Virtual Description: In this one hour presentation, Lucy Beadnell, the Arc’s Director of Advocacy, will review what Medicaid Waivers are, services Waivers offer, how to apply, and give tips for families on waiting lists for services

College Fair and Look to the Future Events
2024 College Fair:
· Date: Sunday, October 20, 2024
· Time: 4:00 - 6:30 pm.
· Location: George Mason University’s Eagle Bank Arena
· Description: Approximately 220 colleges and universities will be represented, including two and four-year colleges and US Service Academies.
Two-Night Postsecondary Virtual Event:
· Date: Monday, October 21, and Tuesday, October 22, 2024,
· Time: 5:00 - 8:00 pm.
· Location: Virtual
Please encourage students to register for these events if they plan to attend. Both events will help students be better prepared for the next chapter of their educational journey.
2024 Fall Transition Series
Virtually September 16 – October 26
Transition Series is the Arc of Northern Virginia's annual event designed to educate and empower families and individuals with disabilities as they transition from school-provided services to community-based services for adults.
Families, teachers, and disability professionals may attend any and all webinars. The date and time for each webinar and the Zoom link will be shared with all registrants at least a week prior to the start of the series. We hope that all participants will attend live, but if not, all webinars will be recorded and made available with slides and additional resources.

· PEATC will host the 2024 Parent and Youth Empowerment (PYE) Summit for Virginia students with disabilities and their parents September 7, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM
· Priority registration is now open for first-time attendees, and it will be open to the general public on July 22, 2024.
· The $35 registration fee will be refunded to those who attend the Summit in its entirety.

Siblings of children with disabilities play essential roles in their families and often experience similar concerns and opportunities as parents.
In this interactive, virtual session learn some common issues that siblings experience and seven simple ways parents and caregivers can help minimize sibling concerns and maximize opportunities to build close bonds with siblings.

Everything You Can Do Through SIS ParentVUE
Want to easily access back-to-school forms and checklists? Log in to your SIS ParentVUE account to find forms and make updates.
Update Contact Information
Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in SIS ParentVUE. To update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
Parents/caregivers who do not have a SIS ParentVUE account should print and complete the Emergency Care Information Form (PDF) and submit it to their child’s school.
Complete Permission Forms
Families can now easily give permission for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of resources including online educational tools, school counseling services, and tutoring services. They can also change how student information is managed.

Submit Absences
Parents can submit daylong absences through SIS ParentVUE. Log in and click “Report Absence.” Note: Partial day absences and changes of transportation should still be reported directly to the school front office.

ABA Family Training Collaboration: Building Successful Home and School Support Teams
This workshop is intended for parents of students with low incidence disabilities of Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
Topics covered will include: ▪ What is collaboration? ▪ Who’s who within the school system? ▪ Who do I ask questions? ▪ How can you facilitate collaboration?

Parent Digital Consent
We want your child to get the most out of their school experience! To open up a world of exciting activities and valuable opportunities, we need your collaboration. Please take a moment at the beginning of the school year to review and provide your consent through our easy-to-use Parent Digital Consent system. Directions and tutorials can be found here.
Step 1
Select your language and log in with the same username and password you use for SIS ParentVUE,
Step 2
A six digit code will be sent to the SIS ParentVUE account email. Please wait a few minutes for the email to arrive. You can also send a new code to the email listed on the page. If you refresh the page it will also trigger a new code. If you get a new code, the old code will be invalid.
Once you receive the code, enter the code and hit the Confirm button.
Step 3
Once you are logged in, you will see an overview of your child's consent forms. To review or update a form, simply click on it.

Gray: Form is awaiting your review.

Green: You've approved everything on this form.

Yellow: This form contains multiple items with mixed responses.

Red: You've declined all items on this form.
