This Week at Madison - 9/2/24

IMPORTANT INFO & EVENTS

Absenteeism

As you plan your vacations this year, please remember that travel is not considered an excused absence. It is recommended that you plan your vacations  around the school calendar to avoid missing school due to vacation.

New this year: Parents and caregivers should report up to two (2) consecutive full-day absences using ParentVUE. The Madison SY23-24 online attendance form is no longer active.  Parents can also call the Madison Attendance Line to report a student absence at 703-319-2319. Late arrivals should be reported at 703-319-2319 or send your student with a signed note.  For more information regarding attendance please see the JMHS website: https://madisonhs.fcps.edu/about/attendance

Driver Safety

In order to ensure the safety of all our students and families, please remind your student drivers to be alert and follow the directions of adults who monitor traffic and student crossings. Several concerns have come our way about dangerous driving by students and parents, specifically, concerns about Flint Hill Road and the entrance to the back parking lot near the stadium.  Thanks in advance for helping keep all our children, K to 12, safe as they arrive and leave school each day.

Cell Phones Off, Learning On

Thank you for helping to support the FCPS cell phone policy by waiting to call or text your child about non-urgent matters until the school day is over. In case of an emergency, it is always best to contact the school’s front office to reach your child during class time.

Visit the FCPS Cell Phone Policy webpage to read more about usage policies by grade level and to share your feedback on the current cell phone policy.

School Pictures

Underclassmen pictures are this Thursday (9/5) and Friday (9/6).  Students will be photographed through their English classes. You may pre-order here. If you have questions about ordering, please email underclass@vosphoto.com.  Images are available two to three weeks after picture day.
