AVID Tutors Needed
Do you happen to know someone that might be looking for a flexible and part-time position at Poe MS? FCPS is hiring AVID tutors for the 2024-2025 school year. AVID tutors work with small groups of approximately 5-7 students during the school day in their AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) academic elective class. In these small groups, AVID tutors will use questioning strategies to help students develop a variety of college preparatory skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. Tutors earn $20.13 per hour and should either be a college graduate or currently enrolled in college. If you know of anyone interested, please share this information with them and ask that they email their resume to AVID@fcps.edu.
Please reach out to Megan Uccellini (mkuccellini@fcps.edu) with any questions.
Dear parents,
Humanitas4All is opening its 1st quarter student registrations for HumScouts!
The Humanitas4All Hum Scouts After School Program is an online program dedicated to helping elementary and middle school students stay on track with learning during the school term. The goal of this program is to provide homework help, fun activities, positive character development, and support to young students and their families.
The HumScouts after school sessions are offered for students in grades K to 8th grade, and will occur after school via Google Meet. Students will be paired with mentors from Thomas Jefferson and Mclean High School, prepared with fun and educational activities for the classes. Students will also be able to work in small groups with other fellow classmates with similar academic backgrounds. HumScouts is completely FREE, and classes run every Monday and Friday from 4:30 - 5:30 pm.
If you are interested in registering your child for HumScouts, or know someone who might be interested, please fill out this Google Form: http://tinyurl.com/humscouts
If you have any questions or any other programs you’d like to see from Humanitas4All, please reach out to humscouts@humanitas4all.org.
