Message from Mrs. Castillo

Outdoor Lunch

Thank you for supporting Lemon Road and a great second week of school!  Lions demonstrated strong routines as classes shifted focus to grade level curriculum, beginning of year assessments, and small group learning!

Upper grade students at Lemon Road attend specials daily with students from each homeroom class.  These groups are carefully curated using student instrument preferences.  At this time, instrument changes cannot be accommodated.  While specials like art, PE, music, band, and strings occur weekly, some rotate on an A & B week schedule (library, counseling, STEAM, etc.).

We look forward to seeing parents at Back to School Night on Wednesday, 5th Grade parents on Friday for a Museum of Me Event, and everyone at the PTA Ice Cream Social on Friday at 6 PM.

Please remember, when parents or guests visit an FCPS school during the day, allow additional time for parking and bring your photo ID to scan in the lobby.  We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to the start of an event to ensure you have enough time.

Have a great long weekend and see you on Tuesday!

Parent Reminders:

Ice Cream Social
  • The Armchair Fundraiser is off to a strong start!  We have raised nearly $6500 already! Great work Lions - but we need your help to hit our goal of $10,000!
    • The first celebration for reaching $5000 is a schoolwide PAJAMA Day on Friday, September 6.  We are close to our 2nd student reward - a popsicle treat at recess for every student when we hit $7500.
    • Every contribution is appreciated and don’t forget to check if your employer will match your contribution! Make your contribution here
  • Our 1st community event of the year is Friday - our Ice Cream Social from 6-8 pm behind the school. The PTA will sell concessions, Bach2Rock will provide the music, and SweetFrog will sell frozen yogurt.  We need adult and teenage volunteers to help, so sign up if you can!
  • Join the PTA!
  • Keep up to date with community events - Subscribe to the PTA calendar for live updated community events throughout the year!

Attendance Information

Our goal is to partner with families to help minimize the number of days students are absent. Getting your student into the habit of daily attendance helps reduce stress and makes it easier to connect with friends and teachers.  FCPS has created a Health Flyer for Parents indicating when a parent should keep their child home from school. Please review FCPS Attendance Policies and resources to encourage regular school attendance.

Beginning in the 24-25 school year, parents/legal guardians can report up to two consecutive absences through SIS ParentVUE. Learn more about attendance reporting through ParentVUE HERE. Families can also report absences by emailing lemonroadelem.attendance@fcps.edu or calling 703-714-6400.
